This post is written for Minnowhelper Writing Contest!!!!- presented by @minnowhelper. <center></center> <CENTER>[SOURCE](https://www.indianartideas.in/photo/201701131059360946736001484285376.JPG) </CENTER> I was in Gujarat, here I must tell you about Gujarat, is a state of India located in the western zone of the country. I was married before 6 months, and my wife **Jothi** and I were living on the ground floor in an apartment. We belong to Tamilnadu the state of south India, I was doing business in Gujarat so we used to live there. Our life was going smoothly, my wife was beautiful enough to spend every moment enjoyable. That night we played a bit more, because the next day was a national holiday. We played a lot, talked a lot, argued, quarrelled and finally slept at almost 1 O' clock in the midnight. We usually sleep in the hall, It was convenient to us, because there was a TV in the hall. We felt the floor bed was better than the wooden bed. It was exactly 8'O clock in the morning, I was laying on the floor bed enjoying morning sleep, suddenly I heard some horrible sound, a sound like someone demolish the building. Initially I thought someone on the first floor might repairing their home, after I realize that it was something unusual, I immediately got up from my bed and stood, called my wife. "Jothiiii where are you?" She was in the kitchen for making a tea; she said "I felt giddiness" I rushed to her and dragged her into the hall, I looked at outside from the window and watched the electric poles were shaking. **"Oh God! It is earth quack"** I was afraid. We were having shock aftershocks and it seemed like it never ended from one to the next shake and continued for almost 2 minutes. <center></center> <CENTER>[SOURCE](https://cf.ltkcdn.net/safety/images/orig/201949-2137x1403-earthquakeinside.jpg) </CENTER> As the earthquake progressed, it was like shaking building image in the moving vehicle. We ran to the door, thinking that we had to leave the building, unfortunately a building collapsed on the opposite side and fell on the door, immediately we rushed to the back door, there also a building was collapsing. We went under the dining table with no other choice. All this happened in 30 to 40 seconds. It was very noisy outside, we felt that people were panicking, running here and there, screaming, some cried loudly, The earthquake has stopped, but the buildings continued to collapse, The roof of that room fell on the table we were sitting on, oh God! "Ammmaaa...!" she screamed. I thought I lost everything, I closed my eyes, my wife was screaming, the dust of debris surrounded us, We could not see anything until about a minute, her face masked with cement dust, the blood flowed slowly from her forehead "Something has fallen on you?" I asked her. "No, it's okay, God, please save me," she cried and wiped it with her hand. We were expecting something would fall next, fortunately nothing happened up to few minutes. "Anybody there...? Help! Help! Please save us" her screaming, I tried to move towards her closer, I couldn't... Oh No! I realized that my leg was stuck in the debris. I had faith that my leg was fine except my toes, damaged with iron rods of concrete Ooh, I screamed with pain "Are you hurt too?" she asked with teary eyes. "Yes, but there is no major injury like you, it's okay don't worry" I also joined her to ask help, there is no other way, We thought at any time that the apartment could collapse upon us, Our life was not guaranteed, since we were surviving. It seemed to somehow get out of there, we were surrounded by concrete pieces and debris, the room was dark throughout since it was daytime, we couldn't assume where to go. "Will anyone come to save us?" she pleaded "Everyone is suffering like us, God has to save" I tried slowly to push the concrete, it was huge, I couldn't move it because they have fallen over one another, moreover, while moving one there was a danger of falling on us. As we were screaming continuously our throat was dry, felt thirsty. The fear of death hit me, I was more concerned about saving my wife than saving myself. I told her not to cry, but I cried. "Don't cry, Let's get out of this situation" She said in a very low voice, "Okey" She's very worried, her eyes shows that she was very much tired. She slept as she was I took a little bit of the mesh around my About two hours later I crawled towards the window, and somehow I cached the window, broke the window glass with the cement stone, I heard some rescue job going on outside. I thought to call them to rescue us "Help! Help" There is no indication that my voice heard them, I could not shout at it anymore. The fear of death on one side, the pain on the other side, the more hungry, the thirst of the water, the wife of the yin. Everything was hazardous "Jothiiii are you there" I tested that whether she is in conscious or not "Mmmmmmmm, " she murmured, and confirmed that she was clear. The time had passed, pain and fear grew I cried and prayed someone come quicker to save my wife, otherwise she would die. I started to scream again "Help! Thank god, someone heard me "There is someone inside, come on" outside someone shouted. Some people came out in a while, and one of them looked through the window, and asked "Any one there, How many are you in?" I'm, just my wife and me" I replied. They broke the window, one only looked inside and said "We have to pull them out because there are concrete slabs hanging" Three people together pulled me out, As they dragged me, a wire torn my thigh, I screamed out to express my pain, I controlled myself, somehow they have taken me out. "Jothii, my wife also there, please take her out" I cried "Somebody gives him water" one of them said. I was handed over to a medical camp in a while, a half an hour later, my wife also rescued and brought up the medical camp. I thanked to God and thanked the people. Killed almost 20000 people, more than 150000 people were injured and more than 50000 homes destroyed.
