Amazons have been doing really well for me in gold/diamond. I've been playing with swapping a few different cards in and out, and I think I've settled on this for now. # The Deck Deck Code: GU_1_5_CFsCFsCDOCDOCGACGACFuCFuPAkPAkCGBCGBCAvCAvCDYCDYBCCBCCCBxCBxCFyCFyBCRBCRKBRKBRPALBGtBGtIAR Underbrush Boar is so cheap that this is actually pretty budget-friendly! If you don't have it, though, you can swap out for other amazons. Solid choices: My gameplay vid is actually using Beastfury Protege. I have swapped it out in favor of the hidden 1 mana Nightleaf Warrior. After a lot of games, I find that beastfury doesn't feel spectacular. It's awkward to play on curve because you want to at least get one ally proc from it. It also fills your board with 1/1 non-amazons. These tokens can often be counter-productive by feeding them favor, making rapture dance stronger, or even preventing you from playing cards like Myrto's Daughter. For now, at least, I've opted for Scion and benched Protege. The mission of this deck is simple: stick amazons and buff them. Like most of my amazon decks, though, I don't like trying to get wide with them. That's more Light's thing, and they have cards with ward + protected to help them with that. Along with board-wide buffs that help survivability. We don't have that, so getting wide can't be the answer (another reason not to like Protege). Instead, Myrto's and Sudden Bloom help us buff tall. We only need to stick one amazon for our win cons. After putting in a lot of games, I've also removed primal guidance in favor of Faeflame Blade + Lightning strike. Primal Guidance is the perfect answer to Armor Lurkers, but I'm just not seeing many of those in gold/diamond. FFB is much better at controlling the board early, and Lightning Strike is much better at removing big frontliners. For a long time, I wasn't running canopy sniper in this deck. I wasn't trying to get wide, so I didn't think she fit very well. However, I decided to give her a try, and she is still worth including. Even with just two amazons on board, dropping her can completely flip the board state in your favor. Agrodor Protector might seem like an odd include; however, a spare frontliner can be extremely helpful against aggro decks. She also helps me play around Shaped Blast. Finally, when I get a creature buffed, she helps protect them from War's blitz minions. 5 health, frontline, and regen 1 is a good deal for 4 mana. Win Cons: I'm not sure how to have a winning amazon deck without Myrto's Daughter. I consider her a must-have. Divya is solid. His effect isn't usually game-winning, but he comes with decent enough stats to make up for it. I used to run 2x Sudden Blooms, but too often I'd have 2 in hand with nothing to buff. With 2x Daughter + 1x Divya, I decided to cut down to 1x Bloom. It's now basically impossible to brick a hand too badly. # Play Guide ## Going First 2x 1 drops + Boar or Faeflame is the best draw against most decks. Against control magic, a warded Barksworn Protector is a keep, but even then, the best draw is a Nightleaf Warrior + Sanctum Guardian. ## Going Second Now you're looking for 2 drops and FFB/Boar. If they don't have a ping god power, Blighted Scion is actually pretty good. It will trade with anything they drop + require them to trade out the 1/1 token amazon. After that, your four drops are your next good opportunity to flip board. Definitely harder going second, but you have blitzers at 4 and 5 and if they leave a single amazon on board you can make them pay. # Gameplay Control magic is a challenge for lots of aggro decks. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://3speak.tv/embed?v=kstreet/hbiakjxz" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> ## 1 Mana and Mulligan The rare occasion when I take animal bond. Control magic isn't going to be playing much of anything to board, and we need the extra bodies on board without exhausting our hand. I don't get ward or 2x 1 drops in the mulligan. Beastfury doesn't feel all that great, either. 1/1 tokens are Tracking Bolt food. I decide to pass turn 1. As I mentioned, you basically can't play Beastfury on curve or the ally is wasted. So I elect to go all out on turn 2. ## 2 Mana A strong turn 2. A lot of stats on board for 3 mana. They are only able to remove 1 creature. ## 3 Mana If I had had an extra mana I would have played Beastfury + Sniper, but playing fury alone is a waste. GP gives me something to do. ## 4 Mana I go fully wide. This is just begging to get Shape Blasted. Looking back at it, I should have gone Riverjumper Captain. Then at 5 Mana I'm guaranteed to have a Myrto's target. Miracle of miracles: it's the one time control magic doesn't have shaped on curve. ## 5 Mana Now things are looking really solid. I Guardian and Riverjumper on board. Now I have 3 creatures that can't be cleared by shaped blast. I'm also swinging in favor from all the 1 dmg pings to face. I grab Vow from sanctum. Aggro decks like this love card draw and this also prevents him from healing. Easy decision. ## 5.5 Mana This is why Myrtos' is required. ## 6 Mana Top deck Sudden Bloom. That's a GG. # Conclusion It's an aggro deck, so it's harder to go second against other aggro decks. However, in those matchups, you're always taking Selena's Mark. This is great for popping War's protected creatures. You get to heal which lets you trade with Faeflame more readily. All in all, it's a solid deck. Against control magic you need to find your cards with ward or high HP, but you've got a lot of them, so it isn't impossible.
