The purpose of [this series of posts](https://peakd.com/@kuhnchun?filter=splinterlandsjourney) is to record my *investment* in Splinterlands and ultimately determine if it was worth it or not.

My Splinterlands journey began in October 2021 after I read an article about the emerging Play-to-Earn genre in the NFT world. Out of all the games, I was naturally drawn to Splinterlands due to my love of CCGs/TCGs. 

Before I knew it, I found myself with several accounts and spending a good couple of hours playing every single day. I would play on multiple accounts in a day and alternate between my accounts throughout the week in order to maximize my daily rewards and ECR. After just 3 months, I managed to turn my initial $70 *investment* into $400, which you can read more about [here](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@kuhnchun/my-splinterlands-journey-473-roi).

Due to changes in my personal life at the beginning of 2022, I was no longer able to devote significant time to juggling multiple accounts and grinding Splinterlands daily. Fortunately, there are always multiple ways to immerse yourself in a game. So, I made the decision to stop playing completely and focus more on micromanaging my assets, *investing* in card sets, and blogging about my experiences.

**01.10.2021** - Created my first Splinterlands account and spent $10 on the Summoner's Spellbook.

**04.10.2021** - Created 4 additional Splinterlands accounts and spent $40 on the Summoner's Spellbooks for the accounts. 

**23.10.2021** - Created my sixth Splinterlands account and spent $10 on the Summoner's Spellbook.

**05.11.2021** - Created my seventh and last Splinterlands account and spent $10 on the Summoner's Spellbook.

**16.01.2022** - Spent $2,185 to buy 500 Chaos Legion packs.

While Splinterlands does have a referral program, it only benefits the referrer and not the referee. Therefore, it is up to us (the existing players) to create our own referral program to help new players enter into the game. I've outlined below how my custom referral program works:  
- Sign up for Splinterlands through my referral link [here](https://splinterlands.com?ref=kuhnchun).
- Once you buy the **Summoner's Spellbook**, I will receive 500 credits ($0.50) which I will use to buy DEC, cards, or both to help you start your Splinterlands journey.
- All you need to do is comment below the IGN you used to sign up with. Once I have verified it, I will reach out to see what you would like to spend your $0.50 on and then send it over.
