Hello steemians today I'll be sharing my experience on how things have changed for me since I joined steemit. Firstly I will like to thank @surpassinggoogle for the immense contribution to the steemit community.
Last year december a good friend of mine @yourmercury told me about steemit and asked me to quickly open an account which I did and from that moment a lot changed.
Growing up in Africa is very different from growing up in other parts of the world, in my country Nigeria to be particular the government shows no interest in creative anf innovative ideas of the people they are meant to lead but with a platform like steemit I believe people will start looking for ways to improve on themselves more and look away from the government. I will just go ahead and list the improvements I have observed in myself during my short time here

<li>My creativity and thinking capacity has improved a great deal. I now see things very differently,a lot of things I used to neglect are now making sense to me and I'm now seeing ideas and stories in every little thing around me. Sometimes while talking to my friend I'll just pause and start thinking of how to write down ideas that I'm having and it's only a matter of time before I start walking around with a pen and a notebook</li>
<li>skill acquisition: In my quest to learn more on how to navigate through the steemit website and even make posts I started taking programming lessons from a friend, it was like all this while I have lacked that driving force to learn new stuffs but now steemit has given me dat zeal</li>
<li>Education: I have been educated a lot during my short time on this community from posts I read everyday and videos I watch on how to do various stuffs. Before joining steemit I had very little Idea about cryptocurrencies but with the help of posts I have read here I have learnt quite a lot and I'm still in the learning process and more importantly some crypto experts here gives advice on when to trade or not. This is just one of the many things I have learnt.  </li>
<li>Also steemit has brought me in contact with many creative,nice and intelligent people that I can now call friends both on the website and outside of it. We are as good as the friends we keep so I'm thankful to steemit for helping me such great minds like @tikhub @estheromoyiwola @druid and @jaff8 </li>
I see steemit as a platform that will really go a long way in helping Nigeria and the world at large . The youths especially in the community where I stay and I believe in Nigeria are getting involved in a lot of criminal activities and the most common is cyber fraud and this is because the society has failed them. If steemit spreads wide I believe it will go a long way in redirecting the steps of many. Thanks for reading thus far, I wish you all a great 2018
