**Introduction:**

Since the internet boom that started way back in early 1990's, we have been seeing a lot of new things. With the launch of YouTube way back in 2005, almost 13 years ago from today. The internet has become a very amazing place. People can do literally whatever they want to do on YouTube, like studying, watching sport and what not. With the concept of improving the video streaming over the Internet and allowing individuals to offer services right from home, OnLive is launching a platform that allows users to do so.

OnLive Network is a live video streaming and broadcasting platform. This platform is built on the Blockchain technology which allows it to have full decentralization and have high scalability.

OnLive Network allows everyone to make money by offering various services/content under different models like Pay Per View, Pay Per Minute, In-Stream Payments, etc. It offers an individual a platform to showcase their talent via live streaming and broadcasting and make money.

**How does it work?**

A content creator/service provider can create a channel on the OnLive network (similar to a YouTube channel) and then they can provide their service to 1:1, 1:8 and 1: many (broadcasting) people as per the requirement. After this, the customer pays for access to various video live broadcasts. The ecosystem or we can say that the platform revolves around service provider, recipient, and broadcaster.

1. a) **Broadcaster** – It produces the content and then broadcasts over the network.
2. b) **Service Provider** – An individual or corporation who offers service on the platform and makes money.
3. c) **Recipient** – The person who is on the other end to purchase the content.

Anyone with the Internet can access the platform and since being built on the blockchain platform, it offers great flexibility and scalability. Not to mention that the platform is also fully decentralized, which means that it is not controlled by any single entity.

**Few words about the Platform!**

The OnLive platform will have decentralized marketplace where users can transact which each other without any middleman i.e. it will eliminate intermediaries. This will allow Broadcasters who wish to sell their content/service to make money on the platform to provide live broadcast to those who need it, even though they're living in a different country. For e.g. a doctor living in the US can provide assistance to a patient in India through the means of live broadcasting. Unlike other businesses in the world, the services will also be contracted using smart contracts.

1. a) **Live Broadcast marketplace**

It will be a marketplace where anyone can start a broadcast and offer their service to a wider audience. Broadcast of sports games, events, TV programs, etc can be offered under this.

1. b) **Live services marketplace**

It will be a marketplace where every broadcaster will be able to offer its services like video and audio broadcasts. This will be similar to an online marketplace which offers live video services.

This marketplace will have the option of dealing with 1:1 and 1:8 broadcasts. As discussed above in the article, doctor consultation can be availed in this marketplace.

Public broadcasts will have two options of collecting fees i.e. Pay Per View and Pay Per Minute.

**ONL Token**

To facilitate the transaction in the OnLive Network and make it easier for users to transact, the OnLive Network is introducing ONL tokens. These tokens are standard ERC20 token deployed on the Ethereum network. These tokens will have a maximum supply of 100 million units and no additional tokens will be mined. OnLive Network will have ONL tokens as sole payment method inside the OnLive network.

**Platform security!**

Apart from providing lots of features to its user. OnLive through its platform will provide extra security to make sure that they don't get caught by the technology.

**Conclusion**

I personally feel that the concept is a really good idea. Apart from the idea, the added advantage of Blockchain is the cherry on cake. YouTube was launched in 2005 and it really revolutionized the video streaming industry. OnLive has a really good opportunity to make an impact in this industry. Personally, I would be really interested to see how they launch this service and its performance in near future.
