My cryptocurrency journey started on Hive and I still have very limited knowledge about it but with time, I will get to know more about it over time. It's not my first time hearing about cryptocurrency but it doesn't make any sense to me.

The person who told me about it some years ago kept emphasizing digital currency and I felt like it was another trick to cart away with people's money. He told me to invest at least 10,000 naira then but I put him on the condition that if anything happens to my money, I will hold him responsible. He said I wasn't serious and didn't value what he was telling me so he didn't speak about it anymore.


I never bothered to check about it until during the ENDSARS campaign when the bank accounts of people funding the protest were frozen. I read that people were donating crypto that can be traded for Naira just to avoid being punished by banks. At that time, I knew it wasn't a scam but wasn't interested.

I haven't had any concerns about Crypto since then until I joined Hive.  My onboarder didn't tell me much about my earnings and he kept emphasizing engagement first. I had to call his attention back to my wallet because the figure was increasing.

What is HBD What is Hive? What is LOH?

I started asking questions and he told me to first read about cryptocurrencies personally before he would explain anything to me. I went to check as instructed and he told me more after. It became clear to me why the government banned the use of crypto.

Cryptocurrency is a digital form of money that can be used as payment for goods and services. There are quite a lot of them with several use cases, they can be used for paying for airline tickets, hotel reservations, goods, games and others. There is a good and bad side to it because of how the price increase or decrease.

I saw the price history of Bitcoin and it has fallen from a high rate to a smaller one. I can't imagine buying at a high value and selling when it dropped because I needed money. Some people have a better understanding of crypto who I can learn from to buy cheap and make more money from selling high.

Another thing I learned is Hive savings, I learned about saving my earnings on Hive since it comes with a juicy return annually. This is a good way to get more of hive or HBD by saving.

Today, I decided to start my savings journey. I will always save a little portion of my earnings.

I also learned about secondary coins associated with Hive like the LOH, there are cheap ones that can be of great value in the future so when I have the opportunity I can buy them and I am happy that I have earned a few already. I always notice the change in their value when I check my wallet and that gives me a better understanding of how price can go up or down.

I haven't started my crypto journey fully, I am not making much offline to build my crypto portfolio yet but the time will come when I will be able to buy lots of them with fiat. For now, I am depending on my earnings on the platform to help me build my portfolio.
