Mobile phones have become important parts of our lives and there are numerous things we use them for. It doesn't just end with snapping pictures or chatting like it used to be before, there are lots of amazing opportunities open to us because of the presence of smartphones in the world. Hive is one of the opportunities my smartphone has given to me and it's not just the only thing I do to make money with my smartphone. When I was told about Hive, I doubted if there could be such a thing because this is my first time blogging. I love to write short stories but just for writing sake, I didn't know there was a platform that could reward me for these stories. When I joined, I realized it was real and it opened my mindset to the fact that there could be lots more opportunities I don't know about. Other than Hive, I also make money through my phone not in a direct way though but my phone is involved. A few years ago, I met a lady who advertised her business to me in school and after I asked where are shop was so I could check her wears, she brought out her phone and started showing me pictures. There were lots of them and I really found her smartness impressive. Sometime later, I had a financial challenge in school and decided to make some money for myself. The first thing that came to my mind was getting a shop, somewhere I could resume after lectures which was just impossible. Resuming to shop after so much school stress is just impossible but I didn't think about it until I resumed this lady who markets her wears and even makes sales through her phone. I made the move and got a SIM card specially for business. I got people's numbers, chatted with them, and ensured they saved mine too so that they could see my status. That was how it all started and before I knew it, I got simple jobs that made me consider event planning which I am currently getting trained for. As a caterer, I can't expect the people around me to patronize me every day. I need new people and advertising my work on WhatsApp and others has been very helpful. [Pexel Image](https://www.pexels.com/photo/person-holding-black-iphone-4-5076525/) Thinking about the cost of getting shops these days can be very discouraging, it would get to a time when there would be a need for a physical space to run a business but as a beginner, a virtual space is perfect. The cost of a shop can even be invested in the business but running a virtual shop needs a strong online presence. Aside from my job, I help my friends who sell bags, clothes, shoes, and even perfumes to advertise. They give me tips whenever anyone on my contact patronises them and I do the same for them as well. The tips might be small though but it means a lot to us and hopefully, in the future, we can have a bigger platform to showcase our business and make more money.
