The knock on my door came at exactly 3:17 AM, just like it had for the past 5 nights.

I kept asking myself, Who would knock on my door at this hour of the night?  For the last five days, I've been afraid to open the door, and I barely get any sleep because of fear of the mysterious knock on my door.

Finally, I got the courage to face my fears tonight.  I sat on the couch in the sitting room, not bothering to go to the room, so I could swiftly open the door when I heard the knock.  I stayed awake all night, waiting for time.  At 3:17 AM, I heard a knock.

I swiftly opened the door, but to my great surprise, there was no one outside. While I was still standing there dumbfounded, I noticed light in my neighbor's apartment, so I hurried over there.

When I explained what had happened to my neighbor, she laughed and said she had no idea her alarm was so loud or that it could frighten me.  She mentioned that she has been writing her final exams for the past five days and that she gets up at 3:17 AM every day to review what she has studied.

Why would someone set a knock as an alarm tone? 🤷
