A few years ago our youngest daughter and her husband had a small restaurant and motel at Fruitlands, just out of Alexandra, in the middle, lower part of the South Island.

One of the visits we did was during winter when my wife went into the falling snow for the first time in her life. 

While these are not strictly Black & White they are petty close.

The locals seem to be happy enough, ah the joys of a wooly coat.

The water on top was solid enough to walk on but I could see the water flowing under the ice.
