Greetings All

I hope that the weekend has treated you all well. I have started a new job and teaching kids is brutal, but hey, at least I can teach online! Please enjoy the update!

Sitting on one of the dumpsters was Kay, but not as a child, but as Saita knew her now. She was dressed in ripped jeans and a shirt that was way too small for her. Saita couldn’t help but grin when this reminded her of Silens.

“What are you doing here?” demanded Kay as she hopped from the dumpster and came to stand before Saita.

“I need to know.”

Kay snarled, “Need to know what? Can’t you ask me to my face?”

Saita was amazed that even though the Fell Dragon was unconscious, her mind was active enough to stop her tramping around her memories unharrassed.
“Would you even answer me if I asked?”

Kay snorted. She returned to the dumpster and simply said, “There is nothing more for you to see here. Leave.”

Saita was at an impasse. She knew her mental capabilities were far stronger than Kay’s, but her being aware of Saita in her own unconscious mind made her stop and rethink her strategy. She wasn’t going to brute force her way through this situation. She needed to be smarter.

“Who made you, Kay? Or are you just a collection of unfortunate bad luck and horrible people?”

The woman glared at her but said nothing.

“I know of four of us. Four women who were taken and practically tortured in hopes of becoming the Fell Dragon or to combat one. Why us?”

“Why not us?”

“Were you the first?”

“The first of us to be a Dragon, yes, but not the first. Not the one that we were modelled after.”

Saita felt that Kay was trying to hint at something that she wasn’t ready to reveal yet. Sighing, she came to sit next to the woman who tried to destroy her life.

“You said that Edzeeker had no hand in making you. Then who was?”

“I can’t believe that you’re this dumb.” Sighed Kay.

Saita tried to have patience, but it was starting to run out.

“Think!” snapped Kay after some time.

If it wasn’t Edzeeker, then there could only be one other possibility.

“A Heavenly?”

“Ding, ding, ding. She wins a prize.” Said Kay sarcastically. “Care to wager a guess who?”

“Shareik.”

“Ooh, going into bonus time.”

“Your sarcasm is unbecoming.”

“Unbecoming of what?” Kay leapt from the dumpster and twirled around. “I spent less than a year in some military compound before I escaped to the streets. I was 11. Do you know what the streets can do to a child at that age?”

Saita didn’t want to imagine.

“I survived. Use and be used. Lived like that for another two years before I got in with a gang that thought they could change the world. They almost got me believing it too, until our leader betrayed me for money. Didn’t help that the neighbourhood wasn’t too fond of us either. For all their pretty speeches about overthrowing the military rule, he was so easily swayed by their money.” Kay hissed as she paced. “I was 16 when my body was ripped apart to make me. Except, unlike you, they started with the controller module. That way, I could do nothing but obey. Thankfully, it also prevented me from remembering what was being done to me. Didn’t cut the pain though. Remember that vividly.”

“Well, we have one thing in common, it would seem.” Muttered Saita in disgust.

“Please leave.”

“Kay, I…” Saita paused, unsure of what to say next.

She looked at the clearly hurt Dragon and said softly. “I am to be the next Dragon. I agreed to that. To be the one to ensure the universe heals…”

“After what I did?” snapped the Dragon.

“From me not stepping up. The universe needs the Fell Dragon. Those Wolven were proof of why the Dragon is needed. A Dragon could have fixed them, created new life…”

“Where I took it?”

“Would you shut up!” snapped Saita.

Kay seemed taken aback, but her mouth snapped shut.

“I am stepping into this role, but there are things that clearly need to be done. There were so many coincidences when I was younger, and I think…I think I was the one who made them happen. That said, you were a hitch I didn’t expect.”

Kay opened her mouth to say something, but Saita raised her hand.

“Just listen, will you? I’m trying to give you something you never had.”

“And that would be?”

“A life.”

Kay sneered before she chuckled harshly. “Everyone I have ever felt something for is long dead. Even Red-Eye will need to return to his time to prevent your past from changing and having any of this happen. I will have no one and nowhere to go.”

“I think I know of somewhere you can go, where most people won’t know who you are.”

“Most?”

“Well, your history is extensive.”

“And what do I need to do in exchange for this wonderful gift?” asked Kay sarcastically.

“You only need to try.”

“Try what?”

“To achieve what you want.”

Kay felt fury blooming in her chest. She was a Dragon of Want, but she never knew what she wanted. She just wanted because she had never had anything. Saita was offering nothing that made sense.

“You don’t have the power to do what you’re suggesting.”

Saita knew that Kay was right. She needed her time-traveling ability unlocked, but even if she could, she didn’t know how to start the plan that was starting to form in her head.

“Not yet, but I will.”

Kay snorted and walked off. Saita knew that it would be best if she didn’t follow. She pulled herself from the memories and stepped back from the bed. She needed to speak to a Heavenly. It was the only way that she could do anything.
