# Concurso Increíble Naturaleza – Mayo 2020 – N° 01 (Español - English) #

Hola, mis amigos **Hiveaventureros**. 

Soy **Zulay Pulido**,  **Aprendiz de Fotografía** con **Pensamiento Filosófico**.

Today, I bring you a series of photographs that I took with a **small Canon camera** that I had many years ago. I don't really remember the model. However, I can say that it had a very good lens.

In **April 2007**, while living in **Puerto Ordaz, Bolívar State, Venezuela**, I was invited to visit part of the **Gran Sabana**, specifically, we visited one of the most spectacular places in our country, called **“El Abismo”**.

To get there, we made a 9-hour tour by private car from **Puerto Ordaz to Santa Elena de Uairén**, on the southern border with **Brazil**. There, you have to leave the small vehicles, request a special permit and take a **rustic 4x4** to make a tour of 80 km and 4 hours more, to climb the **Sierra Imataca**, following a dirt road (quite an adventure). 

Finally, we camped on a piece of land called **Kawaik**, where we slept in tents and enjoyed that pure and clear environment for 4 days.

On the map you will find above I indicate the path taken.

To get to the **Abyss** we had to walk for about two hours uphill in order to access the top of the **Tepuy Kanauyén**, an indigenous name that means: **“Site of menstruating women”**.

The view is overwhelming **at a height of 1,053 meters**. The air is totally pure. There is an intense silence that is only disturbed by the wind. It is a mountain that overlooks a viewpoint on a cliff edge from where you can see an **infinite jungle sea**. **It is the border between the Venezuelan Gran Sabana and the immense Brazilian Amazon.**

> ***The Abyss is the ideal place to think, meditate and enjoy the greatness of creation.***

The thrill of being there is indescribable. We had good weather, the sky was clear and we were able to contemplate the landscape in all its splendor.

Hoy, les traigo una serie de fotografías que tomé con una **pequeña cámara Canon** que tuve hace muchos años. Realmente no recuerdo el modelo. Sin embargo, puedo decir que tenía muy buena lente.

En **abril de 2007**, mientras vivía en **Puerto Ordaz, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela**, me invitaron a conocer parte de **la Gran Sabana**, específicamente, visitamos uno de los lugares más espectaculares de nuestro país, llamado **“El Abismo”**.

Para llegar allí, hicimos un recorrido de 9 horas en carro particular desde **Puerto Ordaz** hasta **Santa Elena de Uairén**, en la frontera sur con **Brasil**. Allí, hay que dejar los vehículos pequeños, solicitar un permiso especial y tomar un **rústico 4x4** para realizar un recorrido de 80 Kms. y 4 horas más, para subir la **Sierra Imataca**, siguiendo una carretera de tierra (toda una aventura).

Finalmente, acampamos en un terreno denominado **Kawaik**, donde dormimos en carpas y disfrutamos de ese ambiento puro y nítido, por 4 días.

En el mapa que encontrarás en esta publicación indico el camino recorrido.

Para llegar a **El Abismo** debimos caminar cerca de dos horas en subida, con el fin de acceder a la cima del **Tepuy Kanauyén**, nombre indígena que significa: **“Sitio de mujeres menstruando”**.

La vista es sobrecogedora a **una altura de 1.053 mts**. El aire es totalmente puro. Hay un intenso silencio que solo se ve perturbado por el viento. Es una montaña que da a un mirador sobre un borde de riscos desde donde se puede apreciar un **infinito mar de selva**. Es el límite entre **la Gran Sabana venezolana** y el inmenso **Amazonas brasileño**.

La emoción de estar allí es indescriptible. Tuvimos buen tiempo, el cielo estaba despejado y pudimos contemplar el paisaje en todo su esplendor.
