There is a thriving Asian community in Vancouver, and many of the restaurants in its neighbourhoods reflect their influence. I recently came across a Korean-style sandwich joint that has a limited but delicious menu. Their specialty is crispy chicken. They started out in food trucks but now have a brick and mortar location in the west end. The last time I visited this particular building was before the pandemic when it used to be a Fat Burger restaurant. I decided to check it out. 

After a long hike, I was ravenous, and it didn't take much to get me through the door.

I enjoy the playful simplicity of the décor. Tactful neon. Impeccably clean. The angle at which they take your order is an interesting use of space. It opens up the hallway and gives it a nice flow into the sitting area.

You may have noticed that there was a screen on the menu board that showed a woman holding a blue lemonade. If you have any doubt about the power of advertising, then just take a look at this delicious concoction.

They had several items on the menus, but as it was their "happy hour," I opted for the hot crunch chicken sandwich.

The lemonade was delicious, but let's face it, if you're going to spoil yourself, you might as well go full tilt, and what better way to do so than with a beer that looks like dog urine but tastes much better (not that I know what dog urine tastes like).

I ordered the medium hot sandwich, and it was outrageously delicious, but by the end of the meal, I was beginning to regret it. My mouth was on fire. The blue lemonade was a crucial element of the experience, as it was chock-full of sugar and acids that tamped down the heat. I know they say spicy vibes only, but next time I'm ordering the mild sauce, or maybe even sweet 'n sour. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Mmm! I enjoyed this place and look forward to trying other items in their menu.
