A few days back, my dad showed his stash where the last remaining [$1 Malaysia coin](https://steemit.com/teammalaysia/@littlenewthings/the-legacy-my-family-left-me--2018-02-15-05-13-07) that we saved up and never lost during the break-in in was kept.

I would have hoped that it could have worth way much more but it was quite a bummer to realised that it is only sold between RM9 - RM11 in ebay. haha.

So to answer @dawnsheree , no, it doesn't worth a lot. haha

And @legendchew gets his answer here too.

And then when I saw this one, it also brought me back very old fond memories when I first laid my eyes on this saved-aside-in-an-album note when I was a kid.

According to Wikipedia, this was issued during the British Military Administration by Thomas de la Rue & Co. Ltd., London; during the European war where the 1 and 5 dollars were captured by the German army. 

The interesting part is that this note does not have a rear print. And it remains blank when it was being used. Maybe during the war mints were hard to be created and notes were much easier; but imagine you are trying to buy a 1 dollar worth of groceries you will need 10 pieces of them.

My dad however did not have the 25 cents note kept till this date.

And according to Amazon, based on its condition, this could fetch up to [$50 USD](http://www.ebay.com/bhp/malaya-10-cents) worth at current date; but I think it could cost more if it is un-circulated.

I am pretty sure my dad's was; yet it was still very well kept with minimal cringes. 

And this was issued during world war II, yet another item in hand to show its existence. 

According to my dad, that 10 cent could get him a dumpling, steamed chicken glutinous rice (_loh mai kai_) and maybe a cup of coffee when he was just a little kid, in the village he grew up.

Wow, that definitely worth quite a bit back then!

Too bad my dad did not have the _banana money_ issued by the Japanese occupation, and how I heard from my grand aunts (when they were still alive) how when the Japanese left Malaya those notes were so worthless they were traded a full bag of it just for some scrap of rice and necessary food items.

It was called that way where there was a banana tree printed on the front of the note.

I have never seen it myself, so I couldn't be certain which one is it my aunts were mentioning. It could look like the one below found in [wikipedia](https://www.ebay.com.my/sch/Paper-Money-World-/3411/i.html?_ssc=1&_nkw=malaya+japanese&LH_PrefLoc=2&_sop=3).

Nevertheless, this is quite a sentiment shown how my family has survived through the decades in this land of Malaysia.

Time to keep this aside and maybe pass down to the next generation, hoping that at least one of them will appreciate the history of it.
