Verses that tie "light," and "candle," to God lighting our understanding. He gives us not only the oil, but also lights our lamps.

**`"The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly."` Proverbs 20:27**
**`"For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness."` Psalms 18:28**

In Matthew Ch. 25, that we read today (in the video,) Jesus tells the servant who had one talent and made no gains that he was a "slothful," servant. Slothful means, "Lazy, Idle, Sluggish, etc...

In the verse below, it says that God will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees:" It seems that they, like the "slothful servant,' didn't consider that there are real consequences and responsibilities for us as believers in Christ. The main part of those responsibilities is to abide in Him.

**`"And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil."` Zephaniah 1:12**

**`"And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them."` Zephaniah 1:12**

Jesus is light, there are several passages where He tells us Himself, "I am the light of the world, he who believes in me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." And the "light shined into darkness and the darkness comprehended it not," and David said that God would light his understanding. In the above verse, The Lord, says, "I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them."

Nothing at all is hidden from God.

Now let's look at what Jesus said to Nicodemus regarding being born again in the book of John.

**`"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."` John 3:8**

Pneuma

1) the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son 
1a) sometimes referred to in a way which emphasises his personality and character (the Holy Spirit) 
1b) sometimes referred to in a way which emphasises his work and power (the Spirit of Truth) 
1c) never referred to as a depersonalised force 
2) the spirit, i.e. the vital principal by which the body is animated 
2a) the rational spirit, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides 
2b) the soul 
3) a spirit, i.e. a simple essence, devoid of all or at least all grosser matter, and possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting 
3a) a life giving spirit 
3b) a human soul that has left the body 
3c) a spirit higher than man but lower than God, i.e. an angel 
3c1) used of demons, or evil spirits, who were conceived as inhabiting the bodies of men 
3c2) the spiritual nature of Christ, higher than the highest angels and equal to God, the divine nature of Christ 
4) the disposition or influence which fills and governs the soul of any one 
4a) the efficient source of any power, affection, emotion, desire, etc. 
5) a movement of air (a gentle blast) 
5a) of the wind, hence the wind itself 
5b) breath of nostrils or mouth 

With Adam, God breathed in his nostrils and he became a living soul, notice the differences in the definitions for each passage. (There is a link above, where you can look up these definitions for yourself.)
Notice that the meaning of the breath that breathed life into Adam is different from the wind, or "breath," that Jesus described to Nicodemus.

God breathed life into Adam and he became a living soul, by the breath of God:

Like Adam, the disciples were living, but it wasn't until Jesus "breathed," on them that they received the Holy Ghost. This divides those led by the spirit, and those led by the flesh.

**`And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:"` John 20:22** 

Breathed from John 20:22 has the exact same definition as described when Jesus talked with Nicodemus about being born again.
