Hi Hive community. There must be many people here who are passionate about traveling and discovering new lands like me. I don't know how people arrange their travel time? For me, most of my trips are unplanned, my trips come by accident. My job often has to travel to many places, this is a condition for me to travel to many places. Every time I go on a business trip, I often take advantage of the day off to explore the beautiful scenery where I go. It also saves me a lot of money compared to spending money to travel by myself. My travels are usually only 1 or 2 days, so I usually choose the most beautiful places to go. Today I will take you to a place in the South of Vietnam, which is adjacent to the Cambodian border, which is Chau Doc city in An Giang province. Chau Doc belongs to the Mekong Delta. Chau Doc is about 60km from Long Xuyen city (the main city of An Giang), so to reach Chau Doc, you can go by road or river. However, the road is the most convenient. You can take a bus to Chau Doc then rent a motorbike to visit the city. Motorbike rental here is also very cheap, only 120,000 VND for a day. If you move close, you can choose towed bicycles. This type of vehicle is very featured here. Foreign tourists come to Chau Doc or choose rickshaws to go sightseeing around the city because this means of transport is slow, so there is time for people to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is the drivers who are your tour guides, they are very friendly and knowledgeable about where they live so they can answer many of your questions.
The first place I visit when arriving in Chau Doc is Chau Doc market. This is a very famous market for the specialties of the South. Although I had learned about the market's specialty in advance, which is fish sauce, I was really surprised when I came here. There are many kinds of fish sauce typical of the South such as snakehead fish sauce, Linh fish sauce, choc fish sauce... The fish sauce is neatly displayed on the stalls with all kinds of colors and flavors, just looking is enough. The prices of all kinds of fish sauce are also clearly listed. Besides fish sauce, there are also dry foods such as Dried snakehead fish, dried fish choke, dried peach, dried snake... The dried foods here are all caught by local people. In the floating season, there is a lot of fish and shrimp here, so people dry them to preserve them longer. The dry food here is vacuum packaging to preserve longer. The most impressive dish prepared very cleanly. If you want to buy take-away, they willhere is Ba Khia fish sauce. Ba Khia is the same species as crabs, mainly living in salt or brackish water of the Southern Rivers. Ba Khia was caught and cleaned, then soaked with salty water and left for a long time. Ba Khia fish sauce is eaten with rice, as a salad, or for processing with some other foods. If you have the opportunity to come here, you should buy some fish sauce and dry it as a gift. The sellers here are very funny and friendly, so you can try them before you buy. In addition to fish sauce, there are many kinds of jams and jams here that you just want to eat right away. Seeing buckets of colorful jams on sale is enough to make you swoon. Around the market, there are stalls selling typical cakes of An Giang such as beefcakes, tapioca cakes, baked banana cakes... These dishes you can buy and eat on the spot. After eating all kinds of cakes, you should immediately enjoy a glass of Thot Not water. This is water taken from Thot Not tree, a typical tree of the Vietnam - Cambodia border area. Palm juice is very cool and nutritious. At the market, there are also many other dishes to satisfy your passion for food such as fish noodles, fried mussels with white rice, shrimp cakes, fried frogs with flour... After visiting Chau Doc market, the next destination is Sam mountain's tourist area. Sam Mountain gathers many pagodas, shrines, and temples such as Ba Chu Xu Temple, Phuoc Dien Pagoda, Tay An Pagoda, Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb... The temples and shrines here are very sacred. The most famous is Ba Chua Xu Temple, during the festival season, many people from all over the world come here to visit, worship, and pray. If you want to stay, there is Victoria Nui Sam Lodge hotel located on high with cool air in harmony with nature. Since my trip is only for one day I don't spend much time here. I just rode my motorbike around the mountain and watched the vast silver fields from the top of the mountain. Observe from above to see the richness of the rice fields here.
Ignoring other attractive tourist attractions in Chau Doc, I came to Tra Su Melaleuca forest, about 30km from Pot Doc. On the way from Chau Doc to Tra Su Melaleuca forest, I was fascinated with the beautiful scenery on both sides of the road. The green rice fields, stretching endlessly, make us feel excited about this place. True to the characteristics of the western part of the river, along the way are rivers and canals, large and small, running through the fields.
Tra Su Melaleuca forest is a typical wetland ecosystem of the South. The vast melaleuca forests of tens of hectares are submerged in water but still grow well. To visit the forest you have to go by motorboat. Tra Su Melaleuca forest is exploited for tourism, so you will have to rent a boat to go deep inside. You will be transported by boat drivers deep into the forest and told about the features of this place. You will be immersed in nature, walking under the cool green trees, listening to birdsong, watching hyacinths drifting, blooming lotus flowers, touching the cool water. You will be spoiled with beautiful pictures during the journey to visit the Melaleuca forest. When you go deep into the forest you will visit Vong guard. Here you can observe the whole Melaleuca forest from above. Standing on the watchtower you will see the vastness of the forest. Inside the forest, there is also a food court with typical dishes of the river region for you to enjoy. Tra Su Melaleuca forest is a suitable destination to bring family and friends here on weekends. This is the place where you can immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the fresh air.
