Hive is a growing ecosystem, and it has zero fees and fast transactions, which is the reason it is growing. Talking about two major things on Hive, Hive-Engine and native Hive. On the native hive, there are hive and HBD, and hive-engine is and platform and exchange that is a sidechain of hive, and you can create your own token there. There are lots of tokens already created on that chain, and many tokens like SPS, LEO, BRO, NEOXAG, and more. Both are important for us.

Let me talk about it more in simple language

## Native Hive: Fast, Secure, Built-In

Hive and HBD are the core tokens, and they operate on the native Hive layer, which we can also say layer 1 or basic layer. There is a third important thing that is Hive Power (HP), and when you stake your Hive, you get HP, but both Hive and HP are different. You can have more influence, curation reward, and governance when you have hive power. Other hand, HBD is giving you good interest, and as a stable coin, it is a use case in itself. These are the main tokens, and they are fast, secure, and you can process directly on the Hive blockchain.

Yes, there are features like HBD saving interest, recurring transfer, and hive savings, and especially the HBD savings are very popular for passive income, and use can make 15% per year with this feature. Hive tokenomics is unique, and it is designed cleverly so that it stays lean and flexible. The problem with this core model, you can create your own community or any project token.

## Token Factory for Communities: Hive-Engine

If we say that Hive-Engine is a game changer for the Hive economy, then it is not a lie. Many hive-engine tokens are getting high exposure all over the world. This is a second-layer smart contract, and this is based on Hive. If you have any project and wanna build on Hive, then you can use Hive-Engine and make your own token, and the same goes for the community token. Great examples of thriving projects are Splinterlands, inleo, and neoxian. Many other projects are ready to thrive.

This particular development helped the hive greatly. It has staking models, non-fungible tokens, and unique and different economics. Since it supports smart contracts, anyone who wants to build a project like a game, defi, social media, and content sharing platform, and more. You can even create a token for your community. You can see lots of tokens built just for the tipping authors.

Hive-engine is not perfect, and often I have faced delays in transactions, but most of the time it is fast, and talking about security then it is not as secure as base chain and native layer. Hive-Engine has its own nodes. There are tribaldex and beeswap available, and leodex came with a whole new idea, but leodex is just a decentralized exchange.

## So, Which One Wins?

This is not a race, guys, so we can't compare them, and there is no competition between them, but we are just saying it for educational purposes. Both are greatest in their place. native hive means base layer provides security, fast transactions, and stability, and hive-engine provides experimentation, different token economics, token creation, and flexibility. Any new projects coming on Hive depend on both.

Content sharing, payouts, resource credit, curation, delegation, and staking happen on the native hive chain, so any new projects that come on hive-engine it default connected with the hive base layer and rely on it. Hive-engine has separate nodes and a system, but it is based on Hive; you can create tokens, trade, trade NFTs of Hive gaming projects, and reward users.

## Conclusion

I hope you liked this information, and after reading this post, you get the idea that both are very important for the hive ecosystem. Tell me in the comments that **we need Smart media tokens (SMT) for Hive or not?**. SMT is years years-old concept and users have been demanding it since we were on Steem. Hive got it in the face of Hive-engine. Share comments and share this post. bye.
