There are several reasons behind it. Modern is a little more difficult than the [wild format](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-modern-and-wild-formats) even though there are no bots in the modern format. Also, [card level](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-combining-cards) is limited in the modern league so that is why you are facing more difficulties. I am facing the same problem and that is why I have not crossed even the 500 rating in the previous season. _______________________ This time I am going to try a little more hard and try some new teams to cross the 1000 ratings fast and I am going to share card names and placement. _______________________ ## Using Special Ability From The Available Cards _______________________ [Bloodlust](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-bloodlust-ability), tank heal, heal, martyr, last stand and thorns are great [abilities](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-abilities) to use here. You have to use something unique to defeat the opponents otherwise you will end up wandering between 300 to 500 rating till the [end-of-season (eos)](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-end-of-season-eos). I am using multiple teams to increase my rating and it's working and let me share one team here. So I am using scarred llama mage as my team [summoner](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-summoner) and using Kron the Undying in the last and this is working fine. _______________________ But sometimes smart players come against you with counter cards so for that I have venari marksrat with amrtyr ability and halfling alchemist with [halving ability](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-halving-ability) these two cards are working fine if you do better placement and also the [mana cap](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-mana-cost-cap) is low on both cards. And I am going ahead with this strategy. You can find the best strategy from your available cards. _______________________ ## Card Restriction In Modern _______________________ [Chaos legion edition](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-chaos-legion-edition) and [untamed edition](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-untamed-edition) cards are available in the modern format now it is an obvious thing that if you are an old player then you have old cards in more quantity. In this case, it is going to be difficult to win battles in the modern format. But you have multiple options to solve this issue such as renting more cards or upgrading some new cards by selling [beta edition](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-beta-edition) cards. These new cards are cheap so they can be a better option for you. So this is how you can get out of the card restriction trouble. _______________________ In the near future new cards are going to launch and I am sure that those new cards are only available in the modern format. so you will definitely have more options to choose from. _______________________ ## Cross 1000+ Rating _______________________  Have you ever checked the reviews of the users in splinterlands discord group? Almost 70% of users say that once you reach a 1000+ rating then the batteling will be a little easy for you. That proves playing in the [bronze league](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-bronze-league) in the modern format is harder. So I have not crossed a 1000+ rating in modern format after the bot ban so I can't say anything about it. My first priority is to cross the 1000 rating. _______________________ I am not even giving more importance to daily focus loot chests because I want to choose the best team to reach a 1000+ rating. Because if you have a low rating then it is not beneficial to gather loot chests in the [daily focus](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-daily-focus) rewards. _______________________ ## Use Special Cards _______________________ As I said above, Use the special cards. Most of the users who play in this rating range are using the basic chaos legion team and they are defeating you. Because they are doing counter. You can do a counter but it is not going to help you in continuous win to reach a higher rating. If you want to get out from this range then you must use at least 2 special cards. You can rent them for some time from the [rental market](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-rental-market). _______________________ Choosing the best legendary [monster](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-monster) is a great option too.
