A. The Belt
words within the [....] are the Greek or Hebrew transliteration of the English word they follow
words within the {....} are the phonetic pronunciation of the Hebrew or Greek transliteration they follow
1. having your loins girt about with truth:
a. Loins- [Osphus]- {os-foos}- hip area, by extension...procreative power, this is the area of your life to which God deposits seed for birthing purposes, every time you get a revelation this is where that is deposited. It is also the place where other seed is planted for the purpose of birthing, (15. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.James 1:15 (KJV)). This is the believe system of your life to which your faith works to produce the kind of person you have become and will become.
b. Girt about- [Perizonnumi]- {per-id-zone-noo-mee}- to fasten one's own belt, personal responsibility to secure this area.
c. Truth- [Aletheia]- {al-ay-thi-a}- what is true in any manner under consideration...root word: [Alethes]- {al-ay-thace}- true, loving the truth, deepest root word: [Lanthano]- {lan-than-o}- truth lying at the base of an appearance. The whole of the word [Aletheia] is not the truth of God's word but rather the truth that lies at the core of your life. Those things which you truly believe to be truth. Consider this, (21. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21 (KJV)). Do you really believe this to be fact or do you still struggle with the concept that you are a sinner saved by grace? Which is it? A sinner is not someone who commits sin but rather someones life that is characterized by sin. We should be known for the righteousness of God in us and not by sin. Hence the reason why Paul states.. (27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway 1 Cor. 9:27 (KJV)). We all will sin but, we do not live for sin. There are serious consequences in living for sin... (16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Rom. 6:16 (KJV)). So, are you sinner or righteous? The truth is found in 2 Cor. 5:21...we were sinners saved by grace but now we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Not of any work that we have done but... (5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the GOOD PLEASURE of his will.. Eph.1:5 (KJV)). Once we understand and believe this truth we can then comprehend... (6. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:6-9 (KJV)).
1. Belt was buckled around the waist and held up the garment while running and fighting.
a. When the garments were pulled up and wrapped in the belt it gave security and protection to a soldier's private parts and kept his feet unencumbered while moving around.
1. The word truth- [Aletheia]- {al-ay-thi-a}- means what is true, truth that is hidden. We all have private parts in our lives- it's the true essence of who we really are not just what we let others see, (12. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb. 4:12 (KJV)) here in Heb. it calls those private parts the thoughts and intents of the heart, that place were no one else can see but you and Jesus.. (13. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Heb 4:13 (KJV)). Here quite clearly we see that Jesus is very much aware of those private parts.
2. Every man knows when your private parts are hit you're going down, (13. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ 1 Peter 1:13 (KJV)). This is why Peter tells us to gird up the loins of our minds, this is the place where the strongholds of these private parts dwell:
a. There are good things we hold, in good strongholds of our mind such as.. truth, things worthy of praise, songs, your hopes, good memories, visions, etc...
b. There are also things we hold onto in the strongholds of our mind that are not good, bitterness, bad memories, failures, worry, hate, fear, lies, sin etc......
* Has your mind become a revolving door of secrets that have kept you spiritually disabled from winning battles in your life? (21. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Tim 2:21 (KJV)). These private parts are represented by iniquity which is a lifestyle of sin such as bitterness, living in bad memories, worry etc... (19. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity 2 Tim 2:19 (KJV)).
* (16 .Confess ( [Exomologeo]- {ex-om-ol-og-eh-o}- to agree fully with the testimony of another), your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much James 5:16 (KJV)). Get the offense out of the dark and into the light (12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour -( [Hoplon]- {hop-lon}- instrument, weapon, tool. The idea is that the casting off of the works of darkness (iniquity) is a weapon or instrument to be used against the enemy) of light ( Phos- foce- light as by fire, indicates judgment ,the Holy Spirit will judge us of our sin especially in dark places so that it can be brought out into the light) Romans 13:12 (KJV)). Note: Try not to be to discouraged by the trials of your life. The Lord will allow things to take place in our lives that will challenge our understanding. But, it is necessary because there are many things within all of us that we are not aware of, things hidden in the darkness of our hearts, truth [Aletheia] that we don't know is there. Truth that is affecting the way we believe about our relationship with God. This truth is not godly truth but truth of our own making. Truth that became true to us because of experiences, failures, misunderstandings, deception, ignorance, etc... So again the Lord allows things to take place in our lives to reveal these deep and damaging lies masquerading as truth. Once revealed we can place these things under the Lordship of Jesus. Tear down the related strongholds (I believe the strongholds of thoughts are emotions. It's why we have difficulty in believing the truth just because it doesn't FEEL right..even though it is the truth!) Moving on.
Some places where we might see the results of a foundation of lies presented as truth:
* (27 .Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily -( [Anaxios]- {an-ax-ee-oce}- not considering the holiness of the moment, to present oneself with sin), shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 .But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily (to present oneself with sin), eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning ( not understanding the Holy nature of Jesus's sacrifice) the Lord's body, 30. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.1 Cor 11:27-32 (KJV)). and also (29. Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Heb 10:29 (KJV)).
* (3. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Acts 5:3 (KJV)). This is the place where we are to judge ourselves, the secret place of the heart, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (10. I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings .Jer 17:9-10 (KJV)). What are we judging within ourselves? Who's holding the reins of our life?
* One other thing we need to look at regarding the armor is that it was also used to hold the weapons in place:
1. Holding the weapons of war indicates readiness....
a. If the quality of the belt was not in good shape it could break in battle, drop the weapons making the soldier helpless to advance.
b. The rest of the armor will protect you but without your weapons you'll not win your conflicts, you will only endure them!
* As we mentioned earlier the belt also held up the garments while running or being engaged in battle so that the soldier could perform his duty without being entangled in bondage. (1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Gal 5:1 (KJV)).
* Remember we are not to be ignorant of satan's devices, which are those hidden things within our hearts, (11. Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Cor 2:11 (KJV)). Jesus made this statement, (30. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me John 14:30 (KJV)). Unfortunately we can not make that assertion. Because of our involvement with sin, satan has strongholds within our hearts of things which he can make a demand on ( like he did with Peter), (31. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired -( [Exaiteomai]- {ex-ahee-teh-om-ahee}- to demand as for a trial) to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.Luke 22:31-32 (KJV)). Jesus didn't pray Peter out of this but, prayed rather that his faith would not fail. satan apparently could make this demand as the darkness in Peter's heart belonged to his kingdom.
* So the "Belt of Truth" speaks of the condition of our character!
