My friend @madushanka was asking about the girls yesterday, so I promised him I would share their latest adventure! 

For starters, they were not very happy today.  It snowed during the night and all day was rainy ~ slush.  They spent most of the morning hiding in their coop, and in the afternoon they made their way over to the greenhouse for a dust bath.

I don't really have much to say about Alfalfa because she's kind of mean.  She killed a bunch of chicks last year.  Well, at least I *strongly* suspect it was her...it was one of the jealous #chickenbitchez.

Before I knew much about chickens I assumed that the rooster would be the threat to baby chicks.  Turns out it is the other hens you have to watch out for.  They can be just straight up EVIL.  Some of them won't hesitate to kill a baby chick.  

We never had a problem with having the hens hatch and raise their chicks until last year. It was so sad 😩 This year the broody hens will go into a separate coop/run to hatch and raise their chicks.
