이번 설 연휴에는 서울에서 육아만 했다.
코로나 바이러스 덕에 어딜 나갈 수가 있어야지.

마스크 구입도 온라인으로 해결하려 했는데 구매 취소-환불이 계속되더라. 결국 시간에 쫓겨 이리저리 발품 팔며 아주 새롭고도 참신한 가격에 구할 수밖에 없었고, 캐리어에 소중히 넣어 베트남으로 돌아왔다.

베트남에서도 확진자가 나왔기 때문에 바이러스 이슈 여파가 꽤 클 것으로 생각했는데, 호치민은 의외로 차분한 분위기다. 구정 연휴 이후에는 출근하지 않고 잠수타는 로컬 직원들도 으레 있기 마련인데, 바이러스 이슈까지 더해져 올해는 결근률이 상당히 높지 않을까 걱정했었다. 그런데 로컬 직원들의 업무 복귀 현황도 나쁘지 않고, <q>음 뭐 평온하네.</q>

그런데 북부 하노이 쪽은 조금 상황이 다른가 보다.
뉴스를 체크하다 보니 마스크 구하기 전쟁이 벌어진 모양이다.

1월 31일 기준 하노이의 한 로컬 약국의 풍경인데 이건 뭐 아수라장이다.

지역 주민들의 여러 인터뷰도 뉴스에 올라오고 있는데, 

><q>추후 가격이 더 올라갈 것 같고, 재고도 남아 있지 않아 2배 높은 가격에도 기꺼이 구매하겠다.</q>

><q>오늘은 재고가 더 이상 없어 내일 다시 방문해보라는데, 내일 마스크가 들어올지 장담은 못 한다네요.</q>

><q>Tet 연휴 전보다 가격이 2.5배 정도 올랐는데, 오늘 지나면 아마 품절될 거라는 말에 그냥 구입했어요.</q>

><q>하노이에도 마스크가 모자라 남부 호치민 지역으로의 마스크 공급 계획이 다음 주까지는 없습니다.</q>

분위기가 이렇다 보니 3M N95 마스크는 가격이 거의 5배나 오른 상황이고, 다른 마스크들의 가격도 3배 이상 치솟는 중이다. 한국에 있는 지인들에게서는 베트남의 마스크 제조 업체 문의 카톡이 쇄도한다.  열심히 연락을 돌려봤더니, 물 들어와서 노 젓기 시작한 제조 업체들이 배째라로 MOQ 자체를 엄청나게 올려버렸고, 단가도 4배 이상을 이미 올려버린 채 버티고 있다.

올 3-4월이 이번 바이러스 국면의 고비 시점이 될 거라는 전문가들 견해가 있던데, 만약 전문가들의 예측이 맞아 나간다면 수개월을 버텨낼 마스크가 꼭 필요하다. 개당 우리 돈 3,000원 ~ 5,000원에 육박하기 시작한 마스크를 한 달 평균 급여 $300 - $400 받는 친구들이 100개는 구비해놔야 한다.  

한 달 월급을 탈탈 털어 넣어야 하는 상황에 가슴 한편이 짠해 회사에서 직원들에게 마스크를 일부 지원해주는 것이 어떻겠나 건의를 했다. 윗선에서도 그러고 싶은 마음은 굴뚝같다.

다만 당장은 회사도 마스크를 구할 수가 없다.
