Both yoga and oriental martial arts teach the horse stance as a fundamental exercise. The U.S. requires soldiers to stand at attention with high aptitude. In the White House, Marines are fixtures near doorways. Standing fixtures accompany high ranking politicians as they boards an aircraft.
Illness
There are many associated illnesses brought about by excessive sitting. Few dare blame illness on long bouts of standing. This is especially true when uncomfortable shoes are not a factor. So why then do so many people complain of being on their feet for long hours.
Why
One reason might be the weight of ones head. Often people who complain of being on their feet are working and thus not hyper focused on say a band on stage. Rather, when standing accompanies work, heads are often rapidly turned to communicate. Poor body posture may result from lack of awareness and the need to endure situations.
Benefits of Standing
In either case, an enjoyable standing experience or an undesirable work environment, standing is better than sitting. Here are few reasons why:

(as mentioned above, with good form) can heal sore knees

strengthens the heart

improves circulation

ends prostate problems

opens and loosens tight hips

builds stronger legs

improved circulation is an asset to concentration and brain health

improved overall health and end illness from extended bouts of sitting

About Me
I very much enjoyed my time as a trainer in the NJYC metropolis and will gladly share my insights. Fair warning though, my beliefs center around outdoor activities and practical applications, rather than, cosmetic and drug facilitated programs. If you enjoyed this post, follow, upvote and comment.
