Today I want to tell you about my walk along the Fieres gorge, which is located ten kilometers from the city of Annecy in France. The canyon is named as one of the greatest wonders of nature in the French Alps.

The gorge itself is located on the descent from the mountains; the road here is serpentine. Near the gorge there is a good free parking lot. From the parking lot to the ticket office, it's a few hundred meters along a forest road along that same small but rather wayward river Fier, which means "Proud" in translation. There is also a small souvenir shop there.

Entrance to this protected place is allowed only from March 15 to October 15. I think that in winter it is not safe to be on the path hanging over the abyss. But in spring, the entrance to the canyon can be closed due to rising water. They let people into the area in groups so that people don't gather on the narrow suspended path.

At the entrance, there are stands that highlight the points from which you can see interesting views. After paying for the ticket at the box office and going through the turnstiles, we saw the entrance to the gorge and the bridge itself, which goes along the cliff. At the beginning of the gorge, the height from the bridge to the river is about 24 meters.

My husband and I climbed and ran and took lots of photos... there are about 30 meters of rocks under our feet to the water. The views here are absolutely gorgeous.

Before entering the gorge, we were warned that if the water rises, we should immediately run to the exit, since the gorge is narrow and can be flooded quickly. There is even a special scale in the gorge indicating what year the flood occurred and what the highest level was.

From above, you can see that the water is quite clear, but when there is a huge stream in winter, it carries with it everything that it manages to pick up along the way. Every year, the wooden bridges and the river bed are cleaned of the debris that has been brought in.

But on the rocks themselves you can see marks of the water level in different years and there are even marks above the level of the suspension bridges we walked on. The maximum level was 26 meters in 1961, when all the scaffolding was washed away and everything had to be restored.

In some places the gorge is very narrow. This bridge was built in 1866, when Fiery already existed. The Fier River itself is not very long, less than 80 km, and flows into the Rhone. The fact that the river is so turbulent is explained by the significant difference in the heights of its beds.

There is an automobile bridge over the gorge, and a railway bridge over the gorge, those rails that we saw at the very beginning of the gorge.

Interestingly, there are several places on the trail marked with red footprints, from which the views are the most vivid pictures and silhouettes. However, due to the fact that people walk back and forth along the same trail, it is quite difficult to choose a moment for a good photo. If you succeed, you can walk on these marked footprints, and you will see something beautiful for your eyes. And for you to understand what you can see, there is a hint on the wall.

And if you haven't figured it out yet, this is the Lapiaz dragon, about which there is a whole legend. This is what it looks like if you zoom in. The stone is very similar to the head of a dragon, especially in real life.

The dragon is located at the exit of the gorge. Further, there is a small park with an open area and trees. There are information boards about the dragon (legend in several languages). A legend about love and about a page who saved his master and his mistress from a jealous husband.

It is also interesting to look at the walls of the canyon. Specific mountain vegetation, thin tall trees, lichens, mosses, ivy and grasses grow on the walls. You will not see or hear birds here - it is very noisy. The water roars so much that you need to raise your voice to be heard.

After about 800 meters, the trail leaves the river. There are a couple of places to rest or have a picnic - there are tables and benches. We walked a little further along the trail without the footbridges. The current is still turbulent, but the rocks part, giving way to wooded mountains and there is no point in going further. We did not stop for a picnic and the whole walk took a little over an hour, but the time of stay is not limited. You could walk all day.

And this is the most interesting poster that was left for us on the way back. Here, if you look closely, you can see faces in the rocks. And so that a person can understand, they are shown to us. These faces are really visible, only on the blue tracks and on the way back.

For me, this place seemed completely atypical for France, or maybe I don’t know this country well yet. Nature never ceases to amaze us with its wonders. Kasoje susimokėję už bilietą ir praėję pro turniketus, pamatėme įėjimą į tarpeklį ir patį tiltą, einantį palei uolą. Skardžio pradžioje aukštis nuo tilto iki upės yra apie 24 metrus.

Iš nuotraukos nelabai galima įvertinti, koks atstumas nusidriekia žemyn į tarpeklį. Deja, nuotrauka neperteikia tikrojo dydžio. Jei atidžiau įsižiūrėsite į apačią, kur yra vanduo, ten uolos ir baigiasi.

Mes su vyru lipome ir skubėjome, daug fotografavome... Po kojomis iki vandens yra apie 30 metrų uolų. Vaizdai čia absoliučiai nuostabūs.

Prieš įeinant į tarpeklį buvome įspėti, kad pakilus vandeniui reikia nedelsiant bėgti prie išėjimo, nes tarpeklis siauras ir gali būti greitai užlietas. Tarpeklyje netgi yra speciali skalė, nurodanti, kuriais metais įvyko potvynis ir koks buvo aukščiausias lygis.

Iš viršaus matyti, kad vanduo gana skaidrus, bet kai žiemą teka didžiulis upelis, jis su savimi neša viską, ką pakeliui sugeba surinkti. Kasmet mediniai tiltai ir upės dugnas valomi nuo atneštų šiukšlių.

Tačiau ant pačių uolų galima įžvelgti vandens lygio žymes skirtingais metais, o žymės yra net virš kabančių tiltų, kuriais vaikščiojome, lygio. Didžiausias lygis buvo 26 metrai 1961 m., kai buvo nuplauti visi pastoliai ir viską reikėjo atstatyti.

Drakonas yra prie išėjimo iš tarpeklio. Toliau yra nedidelis parkas su atvira teritorija ir medžiais. Yra informaciniai stendai apie drakoną (legenda keliomis kalbomis). Legenda apie meilę ir apie pažą, kuris išgelbėjo savo šeimininką ir šeimininkę nuo pavydaus vyro.

Jei kalbėsime apie nuotraukas, atrodo, kad daug kas priklauso nuo apšvietimo. Geriausių kampų nuotraukoms rasti - vienas įdomiausių pasivaikščiojimo įspūdžių. Ir, žinoma, aukštis: išbandyti savo drąsą, pažvelgti į tikrą bedugnę. Na, labai stiprūs įspūdžiai.

Ekskursija po Fieres tarpeklį baigiasi ten, kur ir prasidėjo.
