<liketuimages> <center> </center> </liketuimages> # My experience with table Tennis I first played table tennis at a friend's house in New Zealand when I was about 12. I was really bad at it at first, but I found it quite easy to pick up, so naturally I gravitated towards the sport. When we moved houses, my dad bought a table tennis table to put in the garage. That's when I had access to a table and started playing more frequently. As a result of having a table at home, I became quite a lot better than my friends or classmates. One day on year 12 history camp, they had a table tennis table, and my friends quickly discovered that nobody can beat me. Everyone was lining up to play me and they thought I reacted very quickly to the ball. Above is a photo of me playing table tennis against all the teachers at work (school) on the last day. I managed to defeat every single person but some of them got quite close to beating me. There were a few times where I only won 11-9. Nevertheless I was still undefeated. I look forward to playing it again at work. ### Playing against My brother https://youtu.be/ufIvrFUyQTY Since my brother and I grew up together, anything I played basically he plays as well. I'm 5 years older than him so when he was younger I used to beat him at every sport. But at the same time because he learned to play someone older when he was younger, as he turned about 13 I stopped beating him at all sports that I taught him. You can see in this video that my brother is also a great player. In this video I just managed to beat him at 20-18. Yes, you read it right, 20-18. Isn't it only up to 11? Well, yes, except you have to win by two points. Our scores were so even the whole way that we managed to get to 20 before someone won by two points. It was a titanic battle - watch it or you'll miss it! ### Playing against my mum https://youtu.be/-zgaHHkdWjo My mum did not play table tennis very often. I think she learned to play a little when she was younger when she was dating my dad. You can see she's not very familiar with the bat. She is also a bit older now so she can't see the ball very well. She's had surgery on her eyes before, plus the ping pong ball moves way too quickly. It was also getting dark. Taking all of this into consideration, however, you can see she still managed to hit a few rallies. ### Playing against my dad I talked about playing against my dad in <a href="https://peakd.com/hive-105017/@magicmonk/rhmzzl">this article</a> in Chinese. Here's a translation of the text: Dad vs son, teacher vs student, pen grip vs handshake grip, attacker vs defender, & whatever else you can think of.. There are many things I can never beat my dad in. It was Chinese chess, then tennis, and then table tennis. I discovered I couldn't beat him at a very young age. I used to get a bit frustrated and thought that if I kept practising, then one day I can beat him after a few years. I kept thinking that the whole way throughout my teenage years, my twenties, and then my thirties. Now that I'm in my late thirties and my dad is in his mid 60s, he can still convincingly beat me, in all three things. My way of thinking, however, unlike my skill, has matured. I now celebrate the fact that he can beat me. I am proud that he is able to still be this good after this whole time. I'm not stupid and I'm pretty athletic, but he is just at another level.
