I think you are following the discussion within the Ethereum community regarding the Ethereum Improvement Proposal 1559 (EIP-1559), an upgrade slated for integration in July that is expected to lower gas fees and introduce an Ethereum burning mechanism.
EIP-1559 was greeted with euphoria by Ethereum users and developers, but it has not yet been accepted by miners,that have announced various forms of protest if EIP-1559 is confirmed.
