Have you ever noticed how some people will go wild for something when they find out they are not invited?

In marketing, we call this the "velvet rope".

It's why the hottest nightclub will encourage a line outside the door. Or a restaurant tries to ensure people are seated in the windows. 

When you add that time is running out, or there are only so many seats left, the feelings of "missing out" increase.
