Google makes it seems as though their policies means everybody wins, given that they rely on us, the publishers, content creators and the rest to deploy content that serves their users' queries. This is the only reason it has not attempted to fully centralized this internet world. A few days ago I integrated a pop-under ad from a new ad network on [icoverage.io](https://icoverage.io) only to get a mail from Google some days after telling me I'm violating a policy that hurts users experience on my site so I'd either get adsense off my site and get all pop ups and redirects from my site blocked by chrome automatically or I remove the pop under ads and act like nothing ever happened, how sweet right? This is literally Google using their position of owning the most used Web browser - chrome to demonetize the small fishes in the sea. Truth be told, so many top sites have been cited to use pop under which Google has done nothing about and to think they believe they're in position to tell us what to do with our sites? Google also forbids misleading ads, I personally do not like them and I've tried to control what these ad companies display on my site but you know what's funny? The hypocrisy of Google. Truth be told, most times, ad networks do not care about what a business advertises and here's your proof. Google ad Rekts User >A sponsored advertising link on Google hid malware that siphoned thousands of dollars worth of crypto and NFTs from an influencer’s wallet. >An NFT influencer claims to have lost “a life-changing amount” of their net worth in nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and crypto after accidentally downloading malicious software found via a Google Ad search result. You can read it all on [cointelegraph](https://cointelegraph.com/news/google-ads-delivered-malware-drains-nft-influencer-s-entire-crypto-wallet) But before that, here's an experience I had yesterday. It's funny tho that this news comes in just after I nearly fell victim for something similar. Yesterday, I logged into Safepal, a [non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet](https://icoverage.io/Guides/Cryptocurrency-Wallets-What-They-Are-and-The-Best-Wallets-To-Use), navigated to the DApps section and discovered the application "Unrekt", I was curious to know what it is so as to write a guide on it to be published in the [tools section of icoverage.io](https://icoverage.io/Tools). When I did a Google search, here's what happened. Notice the first result is an ad, the second isn't. Now pay attention to the links, there are different, but one is obviously trying to look like the other. The purpose of this app is to find and revoke smart contracts that may be connected to your crypto address and may be able to spend your money. Something tells me the ad result is going to do the opposite, so instead of helping you get Unrekt, it will literally get you rekt! I began digging deep to know if both sites were connected, and it turns out they are not! According to Whois, the domain was registered on the 8th of January, quite new and already advertising directly on Google search? The original site is more than 2 years old. If you visit the site, you'll notice everything is built the same, is it the same team trying to rekt users by creating something identical, making the second one do exactly the opposite of what the original should do? Maybe, or is it some other person looking for prey? Maybe. The ad site in the search however has no outgoing links, that is where there should be links to maybe a telegram channel, medium and the rest, those buttons are empty. I have reported this to Unrekt on telegram, hopefully nobody gets rekt from an app that should be doing the opposite. Now back to Google, fuck them for not doing their job, before an ad should be served their management should have done some thorough research to protect users, but they fail to do this and come out to accuse and demonetize publishers that leverage other ad networks with other pretty fucked up policies. This all makes me wonder, how long before we get some decentralized ad network with policies written by the users? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section
