In physics, energy is the quantitative property that is passed on to a body or to a physical system. It can be recognized in the performance of work and in the form of heat and light. The unit of measurement for energy in the International System of Units is the joule. A joule is defined as "the energy transferred to an object by the work of moving it a distance of one meter against a force of one newton". In other words, energy is transferred from one form (storage) to a form that can be useful, like moving an object, heating a room, cooling a room, etc. Sometimes it is defined too as the capacity to do work.

Money is any item or verifiable record that is accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts, such as taxes, in a particular region. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange, a unit of account, a store of value and sometimes, a standard of deferred payment.

Since money is what is paid for an action to be done, the more money is paid, more is done, it can be correlated with energy. Energy can have a value in money terms, however, the storage medium of energy can have different values even if they perform the same activities, based on supply and demand of the storage means. For example, 1 gallon of gasoline can move a car 30 miles, but that can cost 2 US$ or 4 US$, depending of the supply and demand state for that gasoline.
