Happy New Year everyone!

In Greece, Santa Claus comes on New Year’s Day – only he is not called Santa Claus in Greek, he is called “Agios Vassilis”, so it’s every Vassilis’ nameday – and my dad’s too.  My dad never asks for presents for his nameday, but he loves when I make canapé for him. So, even though I left it for last minute and didn’t have exactly what I needed I tried to use my creativity to make something decent for him. 

I used toast bread that I cut in squares, margarine, Naxian cheese, cream cheese, ham, sliced sausage, prosciutto, salmon, lemon, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and various herbs.  I always like to make flower shapes with prosciutto and salmon, but I tried some more geometrical shapes with the ham and sliced sausage. 

If you are planning to have a party, you should really try to make some; it’s very creative and artistic. Plus everyone enjoys a small canapé with his drink!
