The project Pigna treehouse by the Italian architect Claudio Beltrame was born from the desire to create a compact structure that would not only be a refuge for man but also a natural element of his environment.

The concept was developed for an architectural competition in 2014, and it became reality only several years later, in the Italian Alps near Tarvisio (on the border with Austria and Slovenia). The pine cone hut develops on three levels and rises ten meters above the ground. The first level serves as a panoramic covered terrace. The second includes the arrival of the stairs (which continue following the profile of the pine cone, acting as a structural cage) that lead in through two large windows with sliding doors. The living room faces the small kitchen and the bathroom door. Beside, the wooden stairs lead to the third floor bedroom. The bed is under a round dormer at the top of the structure. The structure is entirely covered with larch wood shingles, small in size to easily follow its curvature.
