The sound of chewing and crunching people can sometimes crazy everyone. But only now scientists have been able to explain the true cause of this phenomenon. It turns out that the reaction to intolerance to such sounds is due to a peculiarity in the neural networks of the listening brain. The condition is called the mossophony and describes the seemingly illogical emotions that arise in us when we hear certain repetitive sounds from someone nearby. The state was scientifically formulated in 2000, but so far little research has been done.

In 2014, a study estimated that the mossophony could affect up to 20% of the population, and another study in 2015 linked it to obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety that are themselves classified as neurological-psychic disorders. In a recent study of the 2017 issue, a team of British scientists has found evidence of changes in the frontal lobe of the brain, which is probably responsible for the emotional response that is triggered by the specific sounds of the mossophony state.
