Before I begin discussing my most recent discovery of artistic expression lets play a game... # Look at these two images and tell me what you think they are of before you scroll down for the answer: Do you think they are paintings? Or photographs? And of what? # # # # # # . # . # . # . # . # . # . # . # I know the answer because I see this "art" every day it is sunny out around 8:00 in the morning. ### Taken in the fall when orange and yellow leaves were on the trees This is my favorite window in our house. Outside of it is a young tree and a wonderful view of the mountains in front of our home. The morning sun streams in this window making the living room the best place to work in early mornings if you need lots of light. This window is the only one I actually sit in front of and stare out to enjoy the world. The rest of our houses windows aren't as pretty to look out or have curtains. I purposely left this window without a curtain. # Taken this month on one of our few sunny days I'll admit this window is quite filthy and I don't plan of cleaning it anytime soon. Over the years spiders on the outside (and inside) have left behind webs and inside my daughter leaves her fingerprints. To clean the outside of this window I'd have to buy a ladder because it is high above the ground. Something about this combination of spiderwebs and fingerprints and dirt causes light to make beautiful designs first thing in the morning. Those first two pictures you saw are not altered in any way. They are the natural beauty of a filthy window and a tree and light all mixed together. I might be weird or crazy but I really love the way this window looks at 8:00 in the morning. The first time I discovered this interesting work of art created by mother nature was this fall. The oranges and yellows and small bits of green leaves were so illuminated by the sun that to see this tree through the window was amazing. The tree was engulfed in heavenly light so that it glowed in the morning sun. Parts of the leaves and branches cast bits of shadows towards me even though the sunlight was hitting it directly. It was very neat to see. In winter without tree leaves, the branches and toddler fingerprints and spider webs are the ones effecting the design I see mixed with light. It's not as breathtaking as fall colors but still very neat to enjoy. Sometimes I sit in this window and look out at our raised beds and I dream of our garden we will plant in spring. The view is so pretty outside that it's a good window for dreaming. This winter has been nothing but rain. Rain five or six days a week. It's been rare to see blue skies. I can't wait for spring and summer so we can dry out and be back outside again. I dream of all the neat plants I will put in my garden as I look out the window envisioning how beautiful things will look once winter ends. #### All photos are my own.
