# Mining

Attacking a monster to grab some coin and XP is critical to climbing the levels in ***Serfdom & Sorcery***. The higher the rank, the greater your opportunity for doing a myriad of our soon-to-be-announced tricks coming down our sleeves. However...attacking monsters comes at a cost --> **HP**. We know...you nearly die every *single* day just to grab some extra coin and to climb those levels. So...we decided to let you in on a little bit of insider information. Come closer...

*Mining rewards have increased.* 

Going to the fishing hole may help you in grabbing a doubloon or 15, and pickpocketing others may grab you some nice return, but to !mine is to grab a healthy satchel of **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)**. How do you !mine? You need to first !buypickaxe, which will cost you 350 **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)**. Between killing a few monsters, fishing, stealing, and !visit_shaman before you die to get some more, it won't likely be long before you can !buypickaxe and start to !mine. Now...be careful. It's not always the size that matters but how you use it. You have a 3% chance that your pickaxe will break. I'm not so lucky. Mine broke the first chance I used it and I had to buy another. I cried myself to sleep in my girlfriend's barn...it's much nicer than my stack of pine needles...but I digress. So 700 **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)** in the hole (two pickaxes later), I was mining every 5 minutes I could. I got my 700 **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)** back and then some! Of course, you could just use the new liquidity pool...sounds gross...to get your first pickaxe. I hear **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)** is relatively inexpensive these days...

In case you missed it, there is a way to !buy_farm in Serfdom & Sorcery. Get one of those and you'll get a daily payout of **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)** which you can use to buy more potions, a pickaxe, or a myriad of other things. There may be upkeep to keep those farms pumping out **[DBLN](https://hive-engine.com/trade/DBLN)** at such a high rate...but for now in the game's infancy, take advantage, I say...but you do you.

The King is the top player. If you get there, you'll earn taxes from all the peasants below you. Not the King? You'll pay taxes to the King...muwahaha...get to work!
