Were you able to see the eclipse today? This was one of the best in North America for a long time. When the sun is covered by the moon, the penumbra shadow and the light shining around it creates a halo effect. Although in Wisconsin, where I live, it wasn't a total eclipse, I did get to see my first eclipse ever, at age 40. My family and I went out for a lunch picnic at the park and watched it happen with dark glasses. This is a photo my wife took of the eclipse, using the glasses as a filter. ----------- Similarly, here's a cool technique you can use in your paintings to increase the contrast, luminosity, and visual interest. It's called "halation." https://youtu.be/F9uvsnzJiAM Renowned 20th century artist Wayne Thiebaud used the "halation" effect to add interesting color variety, heighten contrast and increase luminosity to his paintings. In this quick 10 minute video, I discuss and demonstrate this technique, and how you can use it too, in my recent painting on the book of Acts. Enjoy and I hope this video is both interesting and helpful to you. All the best, *If you like this post, please upvote, follow and resteem.
