Here is the new MK8 VW Golf GTE. I am really looking forward to seeing their content they will be making with the GTE soon. Keep an eye out in the comments section down below, and the GTE posts which they will create soon. Anyway, when Planetauto told us, that they will be filming a GTE, my mind took me straight back to the old skool days, when Vauxhall the GTE badge for their sporty cars. Then suddenly brain started to work and realised it was the new Golf 8. I won't go into any details too much when it comes to Golf GTE, but I will show you a great alternative if you can't quite stretch your purse strings enough. Going to www.volkswagen.co.uk I can see that the bog-basic Mk8 Golf GTE costs from £36,010.00 (in other words it's the cheapest one with no options). **85,611 HIVE 1 GBP = 2.38 HIVE 1 HIVE = 0.420626 GBP** The Golf 8 GTE, has a 1.4 TSI, with 245PS, a 6-speed DSG Gearbox and is supposed to do 246.1 mpg which I think is amazing, as my tiny 1.6 petrol BMW 116i only does 40mpg. I had a look to see what the prices of them are on the used market, I was pleasantly surprised that you can get a 2020 (70) plate GTE with about 3,400 miles on the clock, which means it is likely to be a demo car. If you don't mind having some miles on the car before you buy it, you can save up to £9000 on a brand new base GTE model, but remember it would have been driven by people who are TESTing the car harder than you would treat your brand new pride and joy. Anyway, So you want a Hybrid, and you seriously want a Golf, but can't stretch to the new Golf GTE, well, it's your lucky day because VW also made an Mk7 in GTE form. The Mk7 is a great car, I have filmed a new 1.2Tsi which I loved. Such a great car, with a wonderful interior too, even on cheap rental cars The cheapest GTE on the Market is a 2015 GTE, with a full-service history, and a nice spec, but it's done 183,000!!! Well, it least it proves that these cars can do the milage!  I would personally aim at a car with less than 60,000 for that kind of age.   I did find a 2016 car with 47,000 miles on the clock with a full service history, and it is a lovely looking car. That car is about £12,000, which is a third of the price of a new one. There are about 200 GTE's for sale on the market, so if you can't stretch to a new one, consider an MK7.
