Mini Motivation #56 - Your first step to recovery

We get hurt. That's the nature of life. It bring us up high, filled with joy, excitement, ecstasy, and then it brings us down, riddled with sadness, guilt, hopelessness.

Let's talk about the downs today, because you and I know we sometimes never fully come back up after a fall. It could be a betrayal that cuts real deep, or a lost too big to bear, or even a pain so intense it kept us from picking ourselves up. We've all been there, and eventually, we say that we moved on, *but do we, really?*

Of course, for some of us, we indeed manage to move on, burden removed. But other times, even if we spear ahead, we know our steps are slow, our shoulders weighted down, our breath exhausted and laboured. Sometimes the scars have yet to fully heel, and other times, the wounds are still open at the risk of further infection.

It's during those times that we need to be honest with ourselves, if we are living in denial. *Are we ignoring facts and choosing fantasy? Are we hiding from the truth rather than facing it head on?*

That's where understanding comes in. If we ask the right questions, we will start to understand ourselves, and our place in the situation. It's never by ignorance that recovery is made, it's by acceptance, and that stems from understanding.

A few questions that have helped me over the years, taught to me by great mentors, are:

* *What am I deliberately not seeing from this picture? Regardless of the reasons, may it be ego, self-preservation or moral grounds, what am I in denial of here?*
* *Is there someone I can talk to on this aspect, who appreciates my vulnerability and can shed light in the situation?*
* *Is this linked to another deeper issue that had not been resolved, but just buried out of sight?*
* *What am I really afraid of seeing, annoyed of knowing and ashamed of admitting?*

**Mini Motivation** is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.

From *Motivation*, we gain ***Inspiration***. From *Inspiration*, we achieve ***Momentum***. And the rest, they say, is history.

Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.

***Oh it did?*** Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Stay awesome!

*Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?*

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, **Steemit** is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

- Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
- Upvote (like) other people contents
- Comment on other people's posts
- Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

*The only difference?* For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a [free Steemit account](https://steemit.com/pick_account), and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome
