Mini Motivation #59 - Do you have friends to have a real honest conversation with?
![](http://u.cubeupload.com/maverickfoo/ElbertHubbard001.jpg)

A couple of weeks ago, after giving a lady an honest feedback about somethings she had done, she asked me to have coffee, so we could talk more about the feedback I gave her. I told her I've already said all there was to be said (written down for her to refer, actually), and suggested that perhaps she talked to her friends about it, knowing she had quite a lot of them.

*"Oh, the sisters and I seldom talk about stuff like this."*

That stuck on me because I would question then what are friends for if not honest conversation and constructive feedbacks?

For me, I'm blessed to always have good friends who were supportive on my growth, and gave me their honest opinions when I needed it the most, even when I was in denial. My Ma has trained me to have good self-reflection, but I figured it's not enough because my senses of observation and wisdom is limited still. Which is why I prefer to have people around me who are not afraid to hurt my feelings just so they can speak the truth.

*Oh, don't get me wrong, **the truth hurts**.* And I admit, I sometimes get defensive and try to justify my position too. But I know the moment I'm defending without debating, it has become an emotional thing. I've taken it too personal. Luckily, my friends were quick to forgive, to give me room to process. And in time, I'm glad they came to seek my advice too.

So if you're like the lady earlier in the story and don't have friends around you that can give you real, honest feedback, then you probably would want to evaluate yourself. You see, birds of the feather flocks together, so a good thing to ask (yourself) is if you've been honest to yourself and your friends? *Are they friends of convinience, or of conviction?*

*Or rather, do you have such friends around you so that they don't lay down the truth, because you can't handle it?*

**Mini Motivation** is my own daily strategy to inspire myself. Mostly 3 minute reads.

From *Motivation*, we gain ***Inspiration***. From *Inspiration*, we achieve ***Momentum***. And the rest, they say, is history.

Hope it helps nudge you a bit too in the right direction.

***Oh it did?*** Let me know in the comments, and of course an upvote would be a nice motivation for me. :)

Stay awesome!

*Wait, why's Mav posting on Steemit nowadays?*

Well, unlike other blogging and social media platform, **Steemit** is the only platform that allows me to earn cryptocurrency when I engage with it. Yup, one Steem is about USD5, and you, too, can earn Steem Dollars every time you:

- Create content (articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos, photos)
- Upvote (like) other people contents
- Comment on other people's posts
- Have discussions, share opinions etc!

Yup, basically it's the very same thing you're doing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc all along!

*The only difference?* For once you can earn a nice income on the side!

Sign up for a [free Steemit account](https://steemit.com/pick_account), and you can thank me by coming back and upvoting this article. And guess what, you will earn Steem too for doing that! #awesome
