[](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088L911PY) # Paperback This is my first picture book and I had a lot of fun with it. Now it is in paper back. Kiki and Koko are Koalas on an adventure. But one day they here news of a terrible virus in the land. Their friends tell them that if they catch the virus they will be put on bent-a-ladders. At night they have night mares of viruses chasing them. The next morning their mother finds them under the bed sheets afraid and their mother does the one thing she can do for these Koala joeys. Maybe it is more than Eucalyptus. My friend has a store in Stockholm and every day people are coming in the store and asking for eucalyptus. Well some hot water and good rest definitely won't hurt. Kiki and Koko teach us more than health they teach us the power of love, trust and hope. I know there are millions of books published on Amazon but when this new year started I made a decision to publish a book this year. It seems like just yesterday but half almost half a year past already. For some time our family was in quarantine and we spent time together playing battleship, chess and reading books. We drew pictures together and put them together to make this book. I learned more through the process of publishing this book than I have ever learned online before. Formatting was a problem. After the book was already published I noticed that the paperback did not look the way I wanted it to look. I found a format for paperback books. https://youtu.be/UU1DtR9c4iY # Paper Manuscript Templates Amazon has templates the right size to fit the paper back. These templates are available to order on the Amazon help page by searching the kdp help with these search words "Paperback Manuscript Templates". I found this news out after I found the print was all too small on the paperback edition. Now I am editing the format to fit on the proper word template. [](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088L911PY) # Printing error gutter space Using the preset template is not enough. You should not move the margins for the publisher needs that space called gutter space. So again my pictures need to be cut. I couldn't find a way to get a landscape from the standard cut. This 6x9 was the best closest I could get. At first the book was written on power point and transferred to a pdf. This format worked well for the kindle but doesn't work for the paper back. There will be an empty page after the title. So although the pairs match in the word file they will not match in the paper back. Room for one empty page should be given. [](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088L911PY) # Royalties The final lesson I learned with printing a paperback with Amazon is that after printing costs there is not much left over in royalties, about 42 cents. So if I sell two million books I can almost be a millionaire. The book is for fun and discovery and education and I learned more through this experience than anything else I have done online including the graduate classes I took online. If you have a lot of time I recommend drawing a picture or writing a book and then try to get your idea published. The wait time nowadays at Amazon is about two weeks for any publications or edits and maybe more so it is good time to get to the keyboard and start typing or get to the drawing tablet and have some fun. Let your imagination go wild and then later try to fit it into a 6 x 9 inch page.
