So let us move towards our next topic HARD DISK. A hard disk is a storage device of a computer system, whatever we save or store in a computer system whether it be a song, video, movie, or any official data are getting save into hard disk of our computer system. Hard disk is also known as the secondary storage device and it is a permanent storage device as it does not erase the data even after we shutdown our computer system.

TYPES OF HARD DISK:- 
Basically hard disks are of two types they are
1)IDE hard disk

•	It has a 32 pin ide interface cable connector, and a power connector with 4 pin
•	IDE hard disk were used up to 945 motherboards
•	It requires an IDE cable to connect it to motherboard and power is provided through SMPS(switch mode power supply)

•	IDE hard disk are connected in hard disk socked of 32 pins provided in motherboards
•	There are generally 2 IDE connectors sockets provided in a motherboard to connect with

2)SATA hard disk:-

•	Sata hard disk have a sata power and a sata data connector
•	Sata hard disks are getting used in 945 and upgrade motherboards like G31, G41, H61 etc
•	Sata hard disks are connected to motherboard using a Sata cable and power is provided with SMPS(switch mode power supply)

•	There are maximum 4 sata connectors sockets given in motherboard to connect a sata hard disk

WHERE IDE HARD DISKS ARE CONNECTED IN MOTHER BOARD:-

WHERE SATA HARD DISKS ARE CONNECTED IN MOTHERBOARD:-

CAPACITY OF HARD DISK:-

1)Hard disk comes in various capacity from 160 GB to 2 TB
2)IDE hard disk had been started with minimum of 10 GB and extended its capacity range upto 500GB
3)Sata hard disks are available with minimum 160GB of capacity and have been extended upto 2TB
