Die Entscheidung die XRP Bestände einzufrieren kommt zu Zeiten in denen erste Zweifel aufkommen, ob das Unternehmen mit den rasant steigenden XRP Preisen den Markt nicht von heute auf morgen mit ihren Token überschwemmt und den großen Cashout macht. Ripple besitzt XRP Token im Wert von derzeit rund 21 Mrd. US-Dollar, die für die Öffentlichkeit bisher nicht freigegeben wurden.

Das in San Francisco ansässige Unternehmen soll jetzt versprochen haben, 88% der eigenen Bestände einzufrieren. Mittels Smart Contracts sollen dann über einen Zeitraum von mindestens 4,5 Jahren pro Monat 1 Mrd. XRP Token freigegeben werden.

Ripple selbst teilte gegenüber CoinDesk mit, so das Vertrauen der Investoren weiter stärken und ihnen die Angst nehmen zu wollen, dass das Unternehmen den Markt fluten und damit den Ripple-Kurs drücken könnte.

Ripples Marktkapitalisierung beträgt derzeit mit 38,3 Milliarden XRP Token in Zirkulation 16 Milliarden US-Dollar. Anders als bei anderen digitalen Währungen wie beispielsweise Bitcoin oder Ethereum befinden sich im Fall von Ripple nicht alle geschürften Token in Zirkulation. Das Unternehmen Ripple selbst hält eigenen Angaben zufolge 61 Milliarden Token. Damit ist die Währung anders als andere digitale Währungen sehr zentralisiert und widerspricht weitestgehend dem dezentralen Grundgedanken einer digitalen Währung.
