### Crypto Currency linked to precious metals underperformance and I found some Silver!  
One thing I have gotten hooked on over the past few months because of our wonderful Silver stackers community is precious metals. Something I wish I had done sooner because I have been watching the precious metals charts recently and well, the movement speaks for itself. 

Although I am probably not alone in losing stacks of cash to Crypto currency as there is a lot of literature coming out now that indicates [the emergence of Crypto Currency caused an underperformance in precious metals](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/investing-precious-metals-versus-cryptocurrencies-iryna). Now that the Crypto market has bottomed out a lot more people are turning back to the precious metals sector which is driving some significant gains across all metals. 

So, Thank you Hive for introducing me into a new form of investment hopefully this market doesn't bottom out and I get left holding a bag of worthless gold and silver. Considering how big the market is, I think I might be alright.

### Precious Metals Fiend 
So I have been a bit of a fiend with precious metals lately although I am not that cash rich as debt consumes most my life, argh the joys of being mid aged with a family.... Gone are the days of being able to completely blow your pay check and not worry about a single thing. Now I have kids I need to feed and responsibilities to attend to. 

 @Trumpman had a post up a few days ago titled [Silver Spoons](https://leofinance.io/@trumpman/silver-spoons) and it got me thinking that when my partner and I got engaged almost two decades ago someone purchased us a Silver Cutlery set that was antique, so I decided to go hunting for it hoping I didn't throw it out in the move.

### Rodd Silverware 
Rodd Silverware were quite popular in the 1960s and it is an Australian company that started up producing silverware for Aussies and founded right here in Melbourne as [G&E Rodd Pty Ltd](https://www.smh.com.au/national/born-with-silver-spoon-but-always-unassuming-20090518-bcrd.html#:~:text=G%26E%20Rodd%20Pty%20Ltd%20was,were%20deployed%20to%20wartime%20production.) in 1919 and became the number one jewelers in Australia. (Good news for me) 

When the Duke and Duchess of York got married Australia commissioned Australian gold Jasmine spoons and forks to be presented to the royals.

### Is it Silver? 
So here's the thing I am stuck on, a search on the interwebs indicates that back in ye day they used the term silverplate and not so much Stirling Silver and while my Rodd set states Silverplate not Silver Plated I have no idea if it is of Silver or just plated. 

I can't seem to find this set available or on sale anywhere except one place that doesn't list how much it sold for without paying a monthly subscription which I don't want to do. I have found a few of these boxes for sale over $100 which indicates there is value in the antique market for this set. 

But the riddle we must solve is: Are they Silver Plated or Stirling Silver?
