0.000 HBDLILY´S Flight Back To Homebase - On Board Under The Seat !
Two days before our return flight to Vienna, we took out Lily´s flight bag so she would get used to it. Upon seeing it, Lily immediately knew we were about to fly anytime soon. From the looks in her face, I could tell that she really loves to go inside the bag and lay down... so we kept the bag closure open. Then every now and then I would put a small reward so she would smell it and go inside until she got bored and ignored the bag later on. **ON BOARD THE PLANE** Pets with up to 6 kilos of weight can be taken on board the plane where the bag is placed under the passenger seat. Dogs however small or big have to pay for their tickets too! A return ticket cost us 90 Euros/ approx. 112 USD) Vienna-Malaga-Vienna and the dog needs a valid dog pass updated with all the required vaccinations as required by the European Union when travelling to european destinations. We used to give Lily a small pill in the beginning to calm her down, just like we did with Ako , our Rottie. The pill depends on the weight of the animal. Lily has a different situation because we have her on board, whereas Ako was always placed in a huge cage and under the plane in the luggage compartment. After 3 years of flying with Lily, we let her get her small rewards instead of the tranquilizer. Up in the air, I was just wondering if animals also get that numbness/deaf feeling particularly when up in the air just like humans get... that ears are blocked because of the height the plane is travelling from the ground. Why should it be different with the animals? We humans can prevent this numbness feeling sometimes by yawning...but, what about the animals. Two hours before each flight, we walk her so she could make her pee and that big business as well. We give her light food and we also prepare water... Water is not allowed at the control/X-ray area for security reasons.. what we do is bring along a small empty plastic bottle that we could fill in a soon as we passed the security. While on board, we sometime took out Lily out of her bag and put her in our lap when the stewardess wasn´t looking... last time, one of the crew members came and asked to give back Lily in her container. The seats of the plane have enough space , we paid for these wide and spacy seats to stretch our legs and at the same time placed Lily nicely without us getting crowded for lack of space. Such seats of course cost extra. **LILY SURVIVED THE FLIGHT** Arriving at the Airport, Lily was as jolly as ever, drank water and was already anticipating for her big reward of *pedigree* and *frolic* cereals ... and at last she was so happy to be home again despite the cold wind sweeping her face.
