If they do not know how to summarise teach them.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88074.jpg

They must take the most important facts from the piece they are doing and write them down. This must be learnt like they learn their tables.

Some children have problems summarising and this is where you start using colours in paragraphs to make some of them stand out.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88075.jpg

Other children have to make rhymes from what they did so that when they say the rhyme they will remember what every first letter stood for. I personally found that this worked best for most children.

There is no subject that cannot be learnt like this except maybe maths.

But as said before if you teach a child his multiplication tables well and the rules that have to be followed when doing sums they will never have a problem.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88080.jpg

Parents are inclined to tell children that maths is hard, but believe me they did not know their rules.

I teach a lot of maths even now to the children in my area who come to the house and none of them have a problem, because they know their multiplication tables as well as the rules of what to do first and when to turn something round if necessary. It is a matter of just spending some time with them and explain why they must follow the rules to get the perfect answer.

Once they know the rules and have them there in their brain forever, they will never struggle again.

The same is for any other subject if you do your summary the right way, you will always get the answer right, especially if you remember the rhyme or sentence you made with the most important facts.

It is very important to teach children how to learn. There is no point in them remembering what they learnt for a day or two, it should stay there forever.

Life can be so much easier for a child once they know how to learn. They will even start enjoying it and their marks will just go up.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88076.png

Children who do their homework and then summarise will always do good in a test. Some might take a bit longer to remember what they are doing, but once they have it stored they will never ever forget again.

It is like putting it in a drawer in your brain, and once you open that drawer it all just comes back and things fall into place.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88077.jpg

I get the feeling with the fast life that everyone is leading children do not learn this way anymore and all they want to do is finish their homework and play X box or computer games.

Parents should not allow it at all. If a child has summarised something take the time and make sure that they really know it and will remember it.

This will make parents, teachers as well as children happy, and what more do we want.

Hope this helped a bit, and have a wonderful day from the Wild Coast.

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88078.gif

https://imgoat.com/uploads/647966b734/88079.png
