America, the "Land of the Free". Since the first Pilgrim Voyages, freedom has been one of the driving forces for us to stand up and fight. But part of that was the freedom to choose important conditions such as "Privacy". Once all of us valued our privacy and didn't want anyone coming between it and us. It was so important that people have put up curtains, doors, and walls between it. They kept secrets, and wore masks to prevent outsiders from invading it. Now privacy is no longer part of our society. Our citizens have opened the windows into their own lives for all to see. Social media has brought in a new age and with it, taken some of our values with it. People are posting their most inner secrets and putting parts of their very souls in a cloud that can never be erased. But it is not just those who are open to self expression. Now we are being asked to be an open book to be able to have a normal life. Landlords want to run your credit to rent you a house, although your credit score has no baring on whether or not you can pay the rent or have good rental history. Employers want you to commit to a lifetime background check before employing you to a job barely above minimum wage. Adoption Agency, Law Enforcement and others want you to be accountable for the black sheep in your family, when everyone has one and we aren't all alike. There are things out their in the world that each of us should never have to relive, or unearth. Yet society has changed their opinions and rule of conduct. Now-a-days it is more acceptable to tell ones dirty laundry on a talk-show or on social media, than to keep it in a lock box under the bed. The tragedy is that the majority of those who aren't private with there lives, have unnecessary judgement place upon them. Those who want to keep their privacy are unduly sought out through invading technology, and glory hounds. Sadly, will there ever be a time when people will become of one mind, and stand up to regain what we have lost?
