Las Vegas Trip Recap
We enjoyed 4 days and three nights in Las Vegas, with loads of activities thanks to myVegas rewards by Paystudios. The slot game lets you earn comps just for playing a free game on Facebook or Android/IOS apps.

Here's the spreadsheet of reward certificates I used and the estimated savings from each reward:

Day 1 - Arrived at LAS 11:25am

We took a quick ride over to the Signature at MGM Grandto check in with my two night Comp followed by my wife’s one night Comp. No problem at check in, though it was a slow process, this seemed to be a theme at all of the desks we encountered during our stay. Whether at a front desk, mlife desk, or retail counter, it seemed like every agent had to spend a couple of minutes ~~playing tetris~~ wrapping up the previous transaction before helping the next guest. Ultimately, we did get checked in, our reservations linked so we should not have any issues with the use of our same room for all three nights. The room was not ready yet, so we headed to the Grand for lunch while we waited.

Upon the advice of a MyVegas tips and tricks facebook group, we headed for Tacos & Ritas to check in on Yelp and get the $9 Margarita, 44oz. We decided to go ahead and grab lunch here as well since it was Memorial Day and our Food Rewards were blacked out. Food was decent, Margaritas were huge but a little light on alcohol. We carried them around for awhile and got a lot of questions about them. Tipped a lot of people off on the Yelp trick.

This was our first visit to Vegas in 12 years, so we did not have Mlife cards, so we headed to the casino and the mlife counter to get our cards printed. This was a painless process, but we did wait in line for a bit. After we got our cards we decided to stroll down the strip for a bit as we had not been called that our room was ready. Our only planned activity for the day was the Secret Garden, so we started down toward the Mirage.

Got called about the time we were getting to Bellagio to let us know the room was ready, not sure what time that was, we just continued on to The Mirage. Once we got there I tried to load our Secret Garden BOGO Snack Bar item reward but was told that ALL Food and Beverage Rewards were blacked out for the holiday. We had planned to use a BOGO entree at Wolfgang Puck at MGM, so this was a bit disappointing (and based on some comments on Facebook about redeeming rewards on Monday, wrong information). We went ahead and enjoyed the Secret Garden, the tickets for which had been bought from a 2 for 1 Reward and scheduled in advance. After Secret Garden we got a ride back to Signature and got in to our room. We had mentioned our Anniversary and tipped the front desk, we were assigned a room on the 11th floor of tower 1, facing in the general direction of the Strip, but not much of a view.

After settling in we decided it was time for dinner and made our way over to Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY, good meal there and they had Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals on. We enjoyed that and the pricing wasn’t too outlandish. Walked around NYNY for a while to try to build up an appetite for dessert since the Smash your Smores shop at the bridge from the Grand was calling out to us. I got the classic milk chocolate, Wife went for the Reese Cup. Both were delicious! After this we headed back to the room and called it an early night since we were used to Central Time and it was “getting late” for us.

Day 2
Our first activity of the Day was to be SunBuggy ATV Tour of the Sand Dunes out by the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We were going to be picked up from the Grand at 10am, so plan was to use a BOGO Breakfast Buffet reward to grab breakfast before meeting our shuttle. I got in line at the mlife desk and my wife headed to the buffet. By the time I got the reward loaded, and got to her, we were not going to make it in to the buffet in time before our shuttle arrived, so we grabbed a bagel and breakfast sandwich from Starbucks instead.

![20190528_124402.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWzTAPbkb3U7BjrpP2mwkzZhxBTYeHn8y1F2QoFtCaan3/20190528_124402.jpg)

ATVing in the Desert was an absolute blast! Our shuttle driver and our Tour Guide were both a blast. But the Sunbuggy office is a wreck. To call them inefficient would be a kindness. We spent the better part of an hour sitting in their office waiting for them to get every person checked in, paperwork filled out, and safety video watched. I would guess we lost about 15 minutes because one guest was more worried about how to fit his go-pro on his helmet than in filling out his paperwork and none of the staff had any interest in rushing him. We were told to expect 4 hours from hotel pick up to drop off back at the hotel, and it did end up being a little over that. But it could have been 3 or less if the office had any sort of efficiency at all.

Our Tour Guide was Jai, they split everyone up in to small groups with the ATV riders following their Tour guide who is in a Dune Buggy. We had a group of 4 others with my wife and I. We were able to open up the throttle and really get some speed out there, as well as run through some of the dunes. It was basically whatever you felt comfortable with, with a “safer” path and a “challenge” path. My wife nearly turned her ATV over and (in spite of strong warnings from our guide and driver (Driver had broken his leg last year doing this)) she stuck her leg out to catch herself. Fortunately she didn’t turn over and so didn’t bust her leg up.

Despite the office issues, I would definitely recommend taking an ATV tour or Dune Buggy Tour. It was a whole lot of fun. You can get a Groupon for their XL package with a bandana, gloves and shirt for $117. I didn’t opt for this since the reviews said about half the time they are out of the extra items anyway, so I just booked through their website. Then they were “out” of the loaner gloves so I had to pay $5 for a pair of gloves anyway. If you can get the Groupon when they are running an extra 20% off, that is definitely worth it.

After arriving back at the Grand we headed to the food court for a “light” lunch so we could get to one of the buffet for an early dinner before our show. We went to Nathan’s and the portions were definitely NOT light. In retrospect, we should have gone to the Grand Buffet since my BOGO Breakfast or Lunch reward would still have been good, but we thought we were doing better by eating at the Food Court. Because I had loaded the reward but didn't use it, this effectively burned the reward and it could not be used or refunded.

We went and changed out of ATV riding gear into swimwear to go enjoy the lazy river at the Grand. Enjoy was not what we did. It was about 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon and the river was packed with people gathered along the edges drinking while standing in the water. The main pools were basically empty after a 10 minute rain, but you could not navigate the river for all the people. We tried the main pool but it was too cool for us, so we went to one of the hot tubs which again was packed. We might have spent 45 minutes total at the pool before giving up and heading back to the room.

Our show that night was Ka at MGM Grand, but I wanted to get three buffets in during our trip, and the Grand was not one of them. The plan was to make our way down to Bellagio for an early dinner, then back to the Grand for the show. But we didn’t make it out of the Hotel as early as I hoped, so we opted to give the Grand Buffet a try. I read up on this buffet and understood it could be terrific down to mediocre depending on the day. We got the mediocre end for sure. Even with our BOGO loaded and the beer & wine included it was not worth what we paid. If you are going to Ka load up the Wolfgang Puck Free Entree with Purchase or something else, ⅓ of the Grand Buffet line was closed down, and what selections were there were not great. This was definitely the worst meal of our trip. And that includes Burger King Breakfast at the Nashville Airport before we left.

![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVMcetJn3bCG2kUh5upWKj5mEUtPDvV73Vw2Vy2MCPNce/image.png)

Ka was a lot of fun. We were in the second row, Stage Right. Both tickets through MyVegas Rewards (1 on each of our accounts) I don’t feel like we missed anything being that close, though if I saw it again I would want to be back some. It is a small theatre, so you can sit anywhere and enjoy it. The acrobatics are amazing, the story elements kind of meh. After Ka we went over to NYNY to redeem our 2 for 1 drinks at Coyote Ugly. We both redeemed the reward and took our two vouchers upstairs. We were the first guests of the night who paid a cover ($10 each), but then our bartender treated each of our vouchers as 2 free drinks. Coyote Ugly was not crowded, and it was mildly entertaining watching the girls pump up the crowd. When we redeemed the second voucher and got our drinks we took them over to sit outside of Times Square Dueling Pianos to listen to the show. After a bit of feeding the slots and getting a drink from the cocktail waitress, we called it a night.

Day 3

No planned activities until 2pm. Good day for a sleep in. Once we were up and about, we headed over to Bellagio for “Brunch”. Redeemed a BOGO here just after Lunch opened at 11. Still a few breakfast items out, and the omelette station was still open, but we treated it as lunch. The variety and selection here, even for lunch, was better than anything we had seen the night before at the Grand Buffet. Much better experience. Only drawback here was that the mlife desk representative told me I could not redeem both the BOGO Buffet and Unlimited Cocktails rewards at the same time. I didn’t push the issue and insist he load it, so I don’t know if it would have been redeemed at the buffet or not. We had a good meal regardless, and then caught a ride over to the Hard Rock Hotel where we had a Groupon for a massage for each of us.

![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcXPYpS4YdhDGRBnC6GZf8j6yRPhaZX3rd5sJNw2R8vwc/image.png)

My wife is a Spa snob, so we didn’t get to go cheap on our massage. The facilities are really nice at the Hard Rock. The Co-ed Roman Bath was nice. Luke Warm, not hot, but the jets were nice on tight muscles from the amount of walking we had been doing. Each locker room area has its own hot tub, which was a much better temperature to my liking. The steam room was so hot I could only manage about 2 minutes in it, but I have never been much for steam rooms anyway. We each had 50 minute Swedish Massages, which were nice. And then it was time to go back to the hotel to get ready for the evening.

We had tickets for Love at The Mirage (again, both rewards), and The Mirage buffet was on my list, but we really like crab legs, and Aria was the only buffet I knew had crab legs 7 days a week, and it was on the list too, so we chose the Aria buffet where we redeemed a BOGO and bottomless beverage. No problem with redeeming or using the beverage reward here. We didn’t have a ton of time after the line, and there was a constant line of people waiting for crab legs. So my wife went and got a variety of other things while I waited for crab. The carving station had Pork Belly, Brisket and steak, all very good. Again, the variety of options here were really good. We enjoyed the Rum Punch and the crab, though one of them got a little revenge on me when I cracked a shell and it scraped my finger pretty good.

Love was another great production. There is almost too much going on. Definitely recommend sitting up high for this one so you can see as much as possible of what is going on. We were in 303 on the front row and really enjoyed this vantage point. It is definitely not classic Acrobatic Cirque. It is of course still a Cirque show, but the acrobatics is taking a back seat here, to dancing and the music. The selection of music was terrific, not all just the standards, but a wide range of different Beatles tunes.

We were able to make it outside after the show in time to enjoy the Volcano eruption from the Valet Drive. I’d never watched it from that side before, ad it has obviously been upgraded since the last time I was in vegas (12 years ago). We wandered back down the strip and caught a night time fountain show at Bellagio, got lost in the Forum shops trying to find our way into Caesars, and finally got back to the hotel where our room keys didn’t work.

This was the night that was under my wife’s name, but we had double checked with the desk before leaving for the morning to make sure everything was in order, and had even been in the room after our spa time around 4pm. But sometime between 4:30 and 11 they deactivated our keys. At some point in the evening they close down the desks at Tower 1 and 3 and you have to go to Tower 2 to see an agent, so we had to go down and get new keys before being able to get packed up and settled in for the night. Not our favorite moment.

Day 4 - Leaving Las Vegas

![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRyNHvvbVzd6DNvHzqkt5XK7CZ5iunXiGy4TCaGNaLCYD/image.png)

We had a 2pm flight, so had the morning to enjoy the strip one last time. The last attraction we had tickets for was the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay on a BOGO. On Day 2 I had tried to do a chip purchase to increase my premium slots on myVegas so I could redeem the $50 Times Square credit that was in my wallet as a 4th premium reward, but that 4th slot didn’t open up right away, so I didn’t get to use the voucher, but on night 3 I saw that my reward slots had increased. My wife had only ever used 2 premium since she had less LP than me, so instead of using a BOGO for our morning meal I purchased the 1 COMP Breakfast at Bayside Buffet for each of us. Pop Slots was still showing me all rewards, though myVegas and Konami both had my reward visibility limited since we were in Vegas. The Bayside Buffet was good, typical breakfast items, good omelette station, crunchy bacon. We were there at 10:30 and they were already shutting down some of the stations for lunch, but otherwise a fine brunch. Shark Reef was about what you would expect. A nice way to spend an hour or so if you like aquariums. After this we did a little last minute feeding of the slots and headed for the airport.

We had a lot of fun with this trip, and by my figuring myVegas saved us about $750. Not too bad. The major thing I would do differently would be to stay somewhere other than Signature. I knew ahead of time that it put us off the strip a bit but I was of the mindset that you have to walk a long way to get anywhere in Vegas and it would be fine. But what it really does is take every place you want to walk and extend it by another 10 minutes to get to and through the MGM Grand or down Harmon, which felt a bit risky in the dark, though we did end up doing it on night 3 to shorten the walk a bit.

One of the things about the MyVegas game is that the more money you spend in it, the more rewards open up for you. I will be buying credits here and there in the next few months to open up the 2 night Bellagio Comp on my account between now and our next visit. I’ve always wanted to stay there and I love O, so that’s my goal for our next visit. Our 12 year old wants to go too, so we’ll see how that all plays out.

We had a great trip, and saved a lot of money thanks to mindlessly playing a game. I hope to make it back to Vegas really soon!
