So the lady who owns the most magical olive/wine/animal/zen farm I’ve ever been to… just opened her online shop.

Now let me back up a year. We went to her villa in Italy for my friend’s birthday. It was supposed to be a cute getaway. You know, pasta, pool, (alcohol), pretending we don’t check emails.

Instead, we got goats. Chickens. A zen garden. Olive trees, wine barrels, coloured eggs, and something else I didn’t know I needed.

A year ago, I discovered the best olive oil I’ve ever tasted. And an amazing woman who felt like part fairy, part therapist, part Ligurian witch.![](https://images.ecency.com/DQma8yhoBVVZsu7rJysXQYwefLRdiBTtB8um2AQnsSZtcef/20240629_155347_fotor_20250622132416.jpg)

She welcomed us like we were lost family. And then one day, because of course she did, she offered a tarot reading.![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmWzRTeocsvVK6NBFZp86XebfS8iYqzRpyNHHyQCzc4DMF/20240629_114442_fotor_20250622132249.jpg)

We laughed and cried and somehow strangers were holding hands and friends looked at each other differently.

I didn’t know tarot could do that. Or maybe it wasn’t the tarot. Maybe it was the place. Or the wine. Or her. Ah, women 😌

I pulled The Devil. The Fool. The Moon.

Since then, those cards have haunted me in the best way. I use them to highlight moments in my life and amuse or self-soothe in the silliest ways. Underrated method, honestly.

So yeah. She opened her store.

This isn’t just a shop launch, it’s a return to that villa, that summer, that version of me who first pulled The Devil.

Some moments never really end, they just turn into stories you carry in your hands, your taste buds, and your Insta highlights 😆![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmcxzfE5yY9tPQuPcqhBKLtkWct4Vz9CKop7DqwWsvxaUp/20240629_221741_fotor_20250622134158.jpg)

🏰 A Medieval Origin with Venetian Roots According to legend, Civezza was founded in the 11th or 12th century by three noble families, Ricca, Dolce, and Arrigo, exiled from Venice. They named their new home cives etiam, meaning “still citizens,” a nod to their lost Venetian identity.

🛡️ Fortified Against Pirates In the 16th century, Civezza built five defensive towers to protect itself from Saracen pirate raids. These towers still stand today, woven into the village’s compact medieval layout.![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmZHtBYTLAVZv1G4wwoKjZGxHdib8UFPbXgUhWoD6XwtNK/20240629_163016_fotor_20250622135915.jpg)

⛪ Sacred Architecture At the heart of the village is the Chiesa di San Marco Evangelista, dedicated to Saint Mark, the patron saint of Civezza. The church, rebuilt in Baroque style between 1777 and 1783, features Corinthian lines and Vitruvian proportions. Nearby, the Oratory of San Giovanni and several smaller chapels (San Sebastiano, San Rocco, San Salvatore, Madonna delle Grazie) echo centuries of devotion.

🌿 Olive Oil, Wine & Quiet Beauty Civezza has long been known for its olive oil and wine production, with traditional mills and terraced groves still dotting the landscape. The village is perched like a ship on a ridge, offering sweeping views of the Ligurian coast and countryside — a favorite of writers and travelers alike.

🧭 Today’s Civezza Despite its small size (just under 4 km²), Civezza has a post office, shops, bars, agriturismi, and even a school. It’s connected by bus to Imperia and San Lorenzo al Mare, and remains a peaceful base for exploring the Riviera and nearby trails.

I'm not a religious person, but I have a... thing... for churches and sacred places.

I'll go into that another time. Meanwhile, this village felt like a spiritual place. Civezza, tucked into the Ligurian hills. At its heart stands the Chiesa di San Marco Evangelista, the village’s parish church, in Piazza San Marco.

Built over an earlier structure, it features 15th-century side altars with intricate mosaic work. The current Baroque form, crafted between 1777 and 1783 by architect Tommaso Carrega, carries Corinthian lines and follows Vitruvian proportions.

Next to it, the Oratory of San Giovanni, once a priory, was recently restored along with the canonical house.

A major restoration project began in November 2022, supported by the Italian Episcopal Conference and restoration grants. It included the oratory’s roof, pastel frescoes, new plastering, and a protective gate added to the bell tower.![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmasoGT8BQ6YpX7D7Vo8hrURZhLxnNdZw5ZAqiH7BwK2zU/20240629_163424_fotor_20250622135747.jpg)

Final thought: if you’re going to gift yourself something, let it be something made with love. 🥰
