But since a new HF is on its way and a lot of community members either share their point of view of how things will play out, or even make propositions for actions that should be taken which they'll benefit our ecosystem / community in the long term, I thought I should do my part as an active member and share my point of view too. ### _Speaking of community..._ Ι like to see the steem world as a miniature of the real world. Isn't it actually? Steem is composed of real people (and some bots) who pretty much act the very same way they act in the real world. What that means is that you'll come across all kind of behaviors if you hang around here for a while. You'll find selfless behaviors, kind guys, scams, those that are only looking for shortcuts, rich people, the guy next door, poverty and the list is pretty much endless. And while rich people are usually enjoying the advantages of a "better" life both in the real and the steem world compared to the "poor", they have one thing in common -at least in most parts of the modern world- so to speak. And that is that when it comes to "elections" their "voting value" is equal. It doesn't matter if you work in a factory, or if you own the factory itself. One vote is one vote. Nobody asks for your bank account when you are about to cast your vote during the National or Local elections do they? So why we are operating with the exact opposite way here in Steem? I am fully aware of the fact that some people have invested millions of dollars to purchase steem and that even a small fluctuation in price -in both directions- affects them most, still, it just doesn't feel right that all it takes is 10 - 20 whale accounts and the witnesses rankings is determined, but it is what it is.... I know that the way I see things may upset some of you out there, but that's just me....and this is just the way I see things. In other words: **Is the voting system for witnesses flawed?** From my perspective, yes it is. Now imagine for a moment that you only have 3 votes to cast instead of 30 (which is insane actually) who would be your chosen ones? Feel free to name names if you are comfortable with that, but kindly explain the reasons why. Would you cast your votes regarding how active a witness is? How skillful maybe? Because their actions benefit the community members as a whole? Just because you are friends maybe? There are hundreds of reasons why you choose to vote for a witness and I'd like to know the "whys". Can you even imagine how witnesses rankings would look like if we only had limited votes. Now I know that 3 votes only might sound terrifying but I only used it as an example. Besides having limited options could make you think it twice before dropping your votes here and there.. Luckily, we are privileged enough to have "elections" every single day around here compared to the real world where you have a saying once every 4 or 5 years. **So use that privilege.** Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below. Cheers.
