Well guess what. Three full weeks under the new rules implemented along with HF21 and while curation is **obviously** a thing again, some people still don't get it. 

I visit the **new** section every day. Every single day, more or less during this time of the day to find something interesting to read. Those undervalued and hidden gems that deserve to reap the rewards so to speak. 

I am not loaded with hundreds of thousands of SP but my vote is decent to put a smile on the face of a newcomer.

But the result is pretty much always the same: **Depressing.**

_I mean seriously now? A photo with some mango without a single line describing something? Anything? Or how about that stolen image of some random hot girl from the web? Do you really think that people will stop by and cast their vote on that shit?_

There were of course quite a few long posts written in Chinese...Arabic...Spanish too. I am sorry but I have no clue what they were all about as I don't speak these languages. Maybe these were the hidden gems we were looking for, I don't know. So I'll let the native speakers do their job...

Other than that, the most interesting post I found was...@steemitblog's. Really.

Who would have thought about a month ago, that even bot owners would shift into manual curation? Nobody, right? Some of them all the way manually actually. Needless to name names...

What I am trying to say and miserably fail is, that you need to produce something better guys. Give people reasons to upvote you. This is your chance. There are hungry curators out there. There are curation projects. There are average users...who are eager to consume and be entertained. But not like that....ffs.

Do you see some very popular authors out there who have massive rewards despite Steem is sitting at 0.16$? It's because they deserve it. It's because they are persistent and even though they are not professionals they act as if they were.

And they will continue to do so, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and every single day. Because those upvoters out there expect a standard quality. It might sound as a burden, but I rest assure you that they enjoy what they are producing.

So if you think that under #Newsteem "guidelines" you have a chance to earn something or this is your way to contribute to the ecosystem, I am sorry to say it...but you won't find the support you are looking for.

Everyone want to protect their investment and in order to attract new users / investors and eventually witness Steem thrive according to its potential, we need to maintain a decent quality.

It seems to me that many people don't realize that this is a great opportunity for them. 

It is a great opportunity for all of us actually.
