&nbsp; Although I was born in Caracas, I spent the first 13 years of my life in a small town in the western plains; Turen Edo. Portuguese. There, as in many other towns in my country, the games had their seasons, for example there was the metras season, the spinning top season, and of course, there was a kite season or _zamuras_, as we used to call it back in my town. . I remember that the kite season began with the first rains of May, when the winds were opportune and made the flight of the _zamuras_ very exciting.

&nbsp; Mom always bought me a ready-made kite, I remember they were always colored, but the truth is they didn't fly as high as the _zamuras_, so one day, tired of my kites going crazy when they took flight, I decided to make one _zamura_. My friend Goyo and his brother Deivi helped me with the task, they were all expert builders of _zamuras_. When we finally built the _zamura_ made of a black bag, wicker thread and verada (a type of thin and flexible bamboo), we ran to the place where all the children on the block used to fly kites. Goyo moved away from me with the _zamura_ about 50 meters away and, with the first gust of wind, he let go of it; I immediately started running pulling the thread... it was magical, immediately it flew and, feeling how it pulled me, I generously let go of the thread...

&nbsp; But then he started to descend fast... Goyo yelled Pick up the thread! Fast! To get up...! At that very moment I saw an object flying directly towards me _zamura_ My surprise! Some boys from another sector, hidden in the mountains, had launched a "tarraya" that flew with precision until it intercepted my _zamura_, knocking him straight to the ground; where the boys from the other sector were waiting for her to run away with her... Although it made me very angry, I consoled myself with the certainty that I had learned to make the _zamuras_ and I could surely make a new one for myself.

&nbsp; This week's theme was a direct ticket to those moments, as soon as I read it I remembered all these things. The musical piece I composed for this week has been inspired by everything narrated here, that's why I've decided to call it _Paper Kites_.

&nbsp; Aunque nací en caracas, pasé los primeros 13 años de mi vida en un pequeño pueblo de los llanos occidentales; Turén Edo. Portuguesa. Allí, como en muchos otros pueblos de mi país, los juegos tenían sus temporadas, por ejemplo estaba la temporada de las metras, la temporada del trompo, y por supuesto, había una temporada de cometas o _zamuras_, como solíamos llamarle allá en mi pueblo. Recuerdo que la temporada de las cometas comenzaba con las primeras lluvias de Mayo, cuando los vientos eran oportunos y hacían muy emocionante el vuelo de las _zamuras_. 

&nbsp; Mamá siempre me compraba una cometa una hecha, recuerdo que siempre eran de colores, pero la verdad no volaban tan alto como las _zamuras_, así que un día, harto de que mis cometas se volvieran como locas cuando alzaban vuelo, me decidí a fabricar una _zamura_. Mi amigo Goyo y su hermano Deivi, me ayudaron con la tarea, ellos eran todos unos expertos constructores de _zamuras_. Cuando finalmente construimos la _zamura_ hecha de bolsa negra, hilo pabilo y verada (un tipo de bambú delgado y flexible), fuimos corriendo hasta el lugar donde solíamos ponernos todos los niños de la cuadra a volar cometas. Goyo se alejó de mí con la _zamura_ como a 50 metros y, con la primera ráfaga de viento, la soltó; de inmediato eché a correr tirándola del hilo... fue mágico, de inmediato voló y, sintiendo cómo me halaba, le solté hilo con generosidad... 

&nbsp; Pero entonces comenzó a descender rápido... Goyo gritó ¡Recoge el hilo! ¡Rápido! ¡Para que levante...! En ese mismo instante vi un objeto volando directo hacia mi _zamura_ ¡Sorpresa la mía! Unos muchachos de otro sector, escondidos en el monte, habían lanzado una "tarraya" que voló con precisión hasta interceptar mi _zamura_, derribándole directo al suelo; donde los chicos del otro sector la esperaban para salir corriendo con ella... Aunque me dio mucha rabia, me consolé con la certeza de que había aprendido a fabricar las _zamuras_ y con toda seguridad podía hacerme una nueva. 

&nbsp; El tema de esta semana fue un boleto directo a esos momentos, en cuanto lo leí, recordé todas estas cosas. La pieza musical que compuse para esta semana se ha inspirado en todo lo narrado aquí, por eso he decidido llamarla _Paper Kites_.
