&nbsp; The true friend, reflection of true friendship, is an invaluable treasure. The word friendship has its root in Latin _"amicitia"_, which means pure disinterested and reciprocal affection. Aristotle distinguishes three types of friendship; one based on utility, another on pleasure and finally one based on good.

- &nbsp; **Friendship based on utility**, lasts as long as some benefit is obtained from the other; there is no affection but interest.
 
- &nbsp; **Friendship based on pleasure**, generally occurs between people who enjoy the same hobby; Between friends who share recreational or sports activities, such as parties, drinking, playing baseball, etc... This type of friendship ends when for some reason the common hobby ends; when you stop drinking, when you mature, etc...

- &nbsp; **The friendship of the good**, this type of ideal and possible friendship, is based on the search for good and virtue, it is pure, disinterested but at the same time reciprocal (_amicitia_). This type of friendship does not seek to take advantage of the other, and although they can be pleasant, that is the least of it, because what really has meaning is the search for the good and the virtue, the beautiful, the good. The _friendship of the good_ procures the good for the other and makes possible the exercise of the virtues. This form of friendship, although the rarest, is the most desirable, whoever enjoys it can consider himself very lucky because he will have found a treasure that will brighten his days.

&nbsp; Inspired by this week's theme, I have composed "Amigo" as a tribute to that good friendship, to that _amicitia_ that some of us have the joy of experiencing.

&nbsp; El verdadero amigo, reflejo de amistad verdadera, es un tesoro invaluable. La palabra amistad tiene su raíz en latín _"amicitia"_, que significa afecto puro desinteresado y recíproco. Aristóteles distingue tres tipos de amistad; una basada en la utilidad, otra en el placer y finalmente una basada en lo bueno. 

- &nbsp; **La amistad basada en la utilidad**, dura mientras se obtenga algún provecho del otro; no hay afecto sino interés. 
 
- &nbsp; **La amistad basada en el placer**, generalmente se produce entre personas que disfrutan de una misma afición; Entre amigos que comparten actividades recreativas o deportivas, como por ejemplo fiestas, beber, jugar baseball, etc... Este tipo de amistad se acaba cuando por alguna razón termina la afición en común; cuando se deja de beber, cuando se madura, etc...  

- &nbsp; **La amistad de lo bueno**, este tipo de amistad ideal y posible, esta basada en la búsqueda del bien y de la virtud, es pura, desinteresada pero a la vez recíproca (_amicitia_). Este tipo de amistad no busca sacar provecho del otro, y aunque pueden resultar placenteras, eso es lo de menos pues lo que realmente tiene significado es la búsqueda del bien y de la virtud, de lo bello, de lo bueno. La _amistad de lo bueno_ procura el bien para el otro y hace posible el ejercicio de las virtudes. Esta forma de amistad, aunque la más escasa, es la más deseable, quién goce de ella puede considerarse muy afortunado pues habrá encontrado un tesoro que alegrará sus días.  

&nbsp; Inspirado por el tema de esta semana, he compuesto "Amigo" como un tributo a esa amistad de lo bueno, a esa _amicitia_ que algunos tenemos la dicha de experimentar.
