<p>I wanna show you two DIY materials at home that you can create and then use to teach your child the colors. We did these activities when my baby boy was one and a half but I'm sure that you can try it with your child earlier or later this age. </p>
<p>Learning colors is fundamental for cognitive development of toddlers. Some kids start to make the difference between colors earlier in toddlerhood while for others , it can take until age 3 before they can fully understand the difference between colors and name them. </p>
<p>It's our job (and responsability), as parents and educators, to create useful learning opportunities for children and also to help them grow at cognitive, psychological, physiological and social level.<br/></p>

<p>Now, here is what you need for making these easy DIY learning materials:</p>
<ul><li>empty toilet paper rolls (I guess everyone has these at home <br/><a href="https://emojipedia.org/see-no-evil-monkey/">🙈</a>)</li><li>colored paper </li><li>wooden popsicle sticks (you can color them if you can't find them already colored) or you can replace them with straws, crayons etc.</li><li>glue stick (to glue the colored paper to the roll of cardboard)</li></ul>
<p>You just have to cut the colored paper to the same size as the cardboard roll and then glue it. The child has to make the association between colors.</p>
<p>Make sure to stay around, paying attention and help your kid not to get frustrated. Being so light weight, the rolls have the tendency to fall when the kid touches it or when he tries to put the wooden stick in the middle of it. :) </p>

<p>For the second Color Sorting Activity, I used the same colored paper rolls, but we used them differently. </p>
<p>Both activities require a little of fine motor skills or better said, they help toddlers in developing these skills. Plus, <strong>sorting colors activities are great to hand-eye coordination, concentration and creativity.</strong><br/></p>
<p>You'll also need a sheet of cardboard and some more colored paper, the same colors you used to make the colored rolls of toilet paper. Then you have to put it on a tray (it can be an empty box of shoes or whatever). J</p>
<p>For just taking a look to my photo, you'll know what you have to do and also, you can see how easy it is to create this. </p>
